Abstract
Salah satu industri manufaktur yang penting di Indonesia adalah industri semen. Semen merupakan bahan dasar dalam kegiatan pembangunan di bidang konstruksi. Sebagai negara berkembang, pembangunan infrastruktur akan terus dikerjakan guna meningkatkan perekonomian negara. Saat ini industri semen di Indonesia telah mengalami perkembangan yang pesat dalam produksi semen. Adapun bahan baku utama untuk memproduksi semen adalah batu kapur (lime stone) dan tanah liat (clay). Dalam perancangan pabrik semen ini akan digunakan proses kering dalam proses produksinya. Proses kering ini dipilih karena lebih ekonomis dibandingkan proses produksi semen lainnya. Proses kering membutuhkan kalor yang tidak terlalu besar karena pengeringan dan pemanasan bahan baku terjadi di luar rotary kiln, yaitu pada suspension preheater sehingga ukuran rotary kiln dapat dikurangi dan juga menurunkan biaya produksi untuk pembakaran. Pabrik semen ini akan dibangun di Pidie Jaya, Aceh. Proses pembuatan semen ini melalui beberapa tahapan proses, yaitu proses penyiapan bahan baku, proses penggilingan awal, proses pembakaran, proses penggilingan akhir, dan proses pengemasan. Efisiensi dan optimasi proses yang akan dilakukan adalah penambahan jumlah udara pendingin pada proses pendinginan clinker di grate cooler dengan menggunakan beberapa fan sebagai alat distribusi udara pendingin. Dengan adanya penambahan udara pendingin ini diharapkan efisiensi pada grate cooler meningkat dan dapat meminimalisir waktu pada proses pendinginan sehingga energi yang digunakan pada grate cooler lebih sedikit.

One of the important manufacturing industries in Indonesia is the cement industry. Cement is a basic material in development activities in the construction sector. As a developing country, infrastructure development will continue to be carried out in order to improve the country's economy. Currently the cement industry in Indonesia has experienced rapid development in cement production. The main raw materials for producing cement are limestone and clay. In the design of this cement plant, a dry process will be used in the production process. This dry process was chosen because it is more economical than other cement production processes. The dry process requires a small amount of heat because drying and heating of raw materials takes place outside the rotary kiln, namely the suspension preheater so that the size of the rotary kiln can be reduced and also lower production costs for combustion. This cement factory will be built in Pidie Jaya, Aceh. The process of making this cement goes through several stages, namely the process of preparing raw materials, the initial grinding process, the combustion process, the final grinding process, and the packaging process. Efficiency and process optimization that will be carried out is increasing the amount of cooling air in the clinker cooling process in the grate cooler by using several fans as a means of distributing cooling air. With the addition of cooling air, it is expected that the efficiency of the grate cooler will increase and it can minimize the time in the cooling process so that less energy is used in the grate cooler.
