Abstract

Traditional markets have an important role in fulfillment and economic activities of the community in an area. Traditional markets are also the main choice for local people to shop and interact socially. However, with many shortcomings in terms of effectiveness, activities in the market have decreased the level of comfort, and cause users to feel uncomfortable for long shopping at Traditional Markets. This also happened in the Susumbolan Traditional Market, due to poor zoning arrangements for traders, the small size of the circulation path, and poor integration with surrounding functions, causing the Human Movement in the Susumbolan Traditional Market to experience problems. This causes buyers to be lazy to go
around the market to choose merchandise and has an impact on many merchant stalls that are rarely passed by buyers. Therefore, redevelopment is needed for several aspects such as merchant zoning, size of circulation paths, as well as technical aspects such as waste management and wastewater treatment. The method used to answer this design problem is Juxtaposition to provide clear boundaries between functions around the market so as to increase effectiveness and efficiency in user activities. And will be supported by the results of surveys and research on Behavior Setting and Cultural Mapping in the Susumbolan Traditional Market by making modules and matrices as a reference in reorganizing activities in and around the market.
