Abstract

Slow learner diklasifikasikan kedalam anak berkebutuhan khusus dimana memiliki gangguan yang berkaitan erat dengan intelektual, emosi, dan sosial. Mereka memiliki penanganan tersendiri dalam hal belajar terutama di bidang akademik karena memiliki karakteristik yang berbeda dari anak kebutuhan khusus lainnya, sehingga mereka perlu mendapatkan perhatian khusus dalam proses belajar dan perkembangannya terutama pada usia 13-18 tahun merupakan fase pendewasaan dan persiapan untuk bekal kehidupannya di masa depan dengan mandiri. Walaupun anak slow learner memiliki kelemahan dalam bidang akademik, dalam diri mereka terdapat bakat dalam bidang non-akademik yang dapat dikembangkan, sehingga perlu distimulasi dan dicari bakat yang dimiliki.
Berdasarkan pemaparan diatas dibutuhkan wadah yang bisa mendorong untuk mempercepat tujuan tersebut. Dengan concept-based framework, disusun hipotesa bagaimana arsitektur dengan desain lingkungan inklusif dapat menjadi katalisator dengan tujuan untuk mewujudkan perkembangan dan proses belajar yang lebih optimal dengan menstimulasi pemahaman dan kemampuan anak berdasarkan karakteristik khusus yang dimiliki oleh anak slow learner.
Pusat Pengembangan Bakat dengan konsep utama arsitektur sebagai katalisator menjadi respon arsitektural pada rancangan ini. Lingkungan inklusif yang tercipta dapat menjadi katalisator dengan tujuan untuk mewujudkan proses belajar dan perkembangan yang lebih optimal. Hal tersebut tercipta berdasarkan hasil penerjemahan karakteristik dari anak slow learner kedalam target arsitektural dengan rancangan program aktivitas yang mendukung pengembangan bakat berupa sarana belajar berdasarkan karakteristik anak dan aspek desain meliputi tatanan massa, sirkulasi, space, hingga fasad.

Slow learner is classified into children with special needs which have difficulties that are closely related to intellectual, emotional, and social relationships. They have their own treatment in terms of learning, especially in the academic field, because they have different characteristics from other special needs students, so, they need to be given attention in their development and learning process from the age of 13-18, which is a maturity phase and preparation to be independent in their future. Even though slow learner children have weaknesses in the academic field, they often have another talent in the non-academic field that can be stimulated and look for their talents.
Based on the explanation above, there’s need a place that can encourage to accelerate these goals. With a concept-based framework, the hypothesis is how architecture with an inclusive environmental design can be a catalyst with the aim of realizing a more optimal development and learning process by stimulating children's understanding and abilities based on the special characteristics possessed by slow learner children.
The Talent Development Center with the main concept of architecture as a catalyst will be architectural response for this design. The inclusive environment that will be created could become a catalyst to optimize the learning and development process. This is created based on the results of characteristics translation from slow learner children into architectural targets with the design of activity programs that support talent development in the form of learning facilities based on children's characteristics and design aspects including mass order, circulation, space, to the facade.
