Abstract

Museum Batik Indonesia was built as the government's response to the stipulation of batik as intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO. Museum Batik Indonesia is an educational institution whose existence is closely related to students. Because of that, museum needs to create interior that support batik conservation efforts, support visitor education efforts about batik and can create object identities as batik museums.
The concept of Multisensory Experience is compiled from data found during observation and data collection. The suitability of the design concept with the needs of the museum was then reviewed through a literature study on the learning styles of young people. The multisensory concept was also re-examined its effect on young people through a questionnaire distributed to students aged 13-18 years.
The application of the Multisensory Experience concept at the Indonesian Batik Museum is realized by providing multisensory activities and interactive display tools specifically for certain senses. While the identity of the object as a batik museum is realized through the application of stylized batik ornaments in interior elements. Through this design, it is hoped that young visitors will be more interested in learning batik.
