Abstract

Indonesia is expected to experience the demographic dividend phenomenon in 2020 - 2035. The millennial generation, who were at that productive age, played an important role in increasing economic growth and advancing Indonesia. The need for affordable housing and high unemployment rates due to an uncomfortable work environment are important problems for millennial generations in facing the demographic dividend. By using the concept of co-living, this design seeks to present a new typology by integrating the functions of housing and workspace in one design object. Architectural behaviour approach with behaviour mapping as the main method in a force-based framework that is used to answer problems that related to the characteristics of the Millennial Generation in work, life, and social aspects. The design object is a Co-Living Space, which is vertical housing with economic sharing system and shared workspace for urban middle-class millennials who work in the creative industry. With this generation-based design object, it is hoped that it can increase the resiliency and productivity of the millennial generation in facing the demographic dividend so it can increase economic growth.
