Abstract

Semakin hari pertambahan penduduk dunia semakin meningkat, hal ini tentu akan menimbulkan banyak dampak. Salah satu dampak yang tidak dapat dihindari adalah dampak terhadap lingkungan, jika pertambahan penduduk tidak diikuti dengan kesadaran akan pentingnya menjaga lingkungan maka akan menimbulkan ketidakseimbangan antara sumber daya alam dengan kebutuhan manusia. Keadaan ini juga semakin diperparah dengan meningkatnya budaya konsumerisme. Ada 2 konsep menarik yang dapat membantu dalam upaya meningkatkan efisiensi energi dan juga mengurangi environmental footprint, yaitu konsep tiny house dan gaya hidup minimalism yang bisa dibilang merupakan kebalikan dari budaya konsumerisme. Kedua konsep ini secara tidak langsung saling berhubungan dan berkaitan, dengan membangun Tiny house, secara tidak langsung akan mendorong penghuninya untuk hidup secara minimalis yaitu dengan mengurangi semua kebutuhan hidup yang dirasa kurang penting sehingga hal ini bisa mengurangi dampak negatif yang ditimbulkan terhadap lingkungan. Dengan membangun sebuah komunitas tiny house di Indonesia diharapkan dapat mempopulerkan gaya hidup minimalis dan juga dapat menjadi salah satu solusi terhadap penggunaan energi yang berlebihan yang disebabkan oleh budaya konsumerisme.

The world population is increasing day by day, this fact will certainly have many impacts. One of the unavoidable impacts is the impact on the environment, if population growth is not followed by awareness of the importance of protecting the environment, it will cause an imbalance between natural resources and human needs. This situation is also exacerbated by the increasing culture of consumerism. There are 2 interesting concepts that can help in to increase energy efficiency and also reduce the environmental footprint, Tiny House Movement and minimalist lifestyle, which is arguably the opposite of consumerism culture. These two concepts are indirectly related, by building a Tiny house, it will indirectly encourage its residents to live a minimalist life, namely by reducing all the necessities of life that are considered less important so that this can reduce the negative impact on the environment. By building a tiny house community in Indonesia, it’s hoped that it can popularize the minimalist lifestyle and can also be a solution to the excessive use of energy caused by the culture of consumerism.
