Abstract

Pendidikan merupakan salah satu aspek penting dan prioritas dalam kehidupan manusia. Sebagaimana disebutkan dalam UU No.20 tahun 2003 tentang Sistem Pendidikan Nasional (SISDIKNAS), pendidikan nasional berfungsi mengembangan kemampuan dan membentuk watak serta peradaban bangsa yang bermartabat dalam rangka mencerdaskan kehidupan bangsa. Salah satu yang membutuhkan perhatian khusus adalah penyediaan fasilitas pendidikan bagi ABK. Tanpa adanya kepedulian pada hak-hak pendidikan ABK, maka akan minim kesempatan bagi mereka untuk berkembang dan mandiri di kemudian hari,
Mendidik ABK memerlukan suatu pendekatan dan strategi yang khusus sesuai dengan kebutuhannya. Hal ini bersandar pada kondisi dan tingkatan kelainan yang dialami anak. Pembelajaran pada ABK dapat melalui terapi seni yang didasarkan pada gagasan bahwa proses kreatif pembuatan seni adalah penyembuhan dan peningkatan kehidupan dan merupakan bentuk komunikasi pikiran dan perasaan nonverbal. Terapi seni membina kemampuan motoric, sensorik, okupasi, imajinasi dan melatih kemampuan berkonsentrasi dalam durasi waktu tertentu melalui proses pembuatannya.
Dalam rancangan interior pada laporan Tugas Akhir ini penulis bekerjasama dengan Yayasan Peduli Kasih Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus (YPKABK) Surabaya sebagai objek desain. Konsep rancangan yang diangkat adalah memfasilitasi kegiatan-kegiatan di YPKABK dengan pendekatan terapi seni, memperhatikan fleksibilitas dan memperhatikan kaidah universal design.

Education is one of the important aspects and priorities in human life. As stated in Law No. 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System (SISDIKNAS), national education functions to develop capabilities and shape the character and civilization of a dignified nation in order to educate the nation's life. One that requires special attention is the provision of educational facilities for Special Needs Children. Without concern for the education rights of Special Needs Children, there will be minimal opportunity for them to develop and be independent in the future.

Educating children with special needs requires a special approach and strategy according to their needs. This depends on the condition and level of the disorder experienced by the child. Learning with children with special needs can be through Art Therapy which is based on the idea that the creative process of making art is healing and improving life and is a form of nonverbal communication of thoughts and feelings. Art Therapy fosters motor, sensory, occupational, imagination skills and trains the ability to concentrate for a certain duration of time through the manufacturing process.

In the interior design of this Final Project report, the author collaborates with the Surabaya’s Care Foundation for Children with Special Needs (YPKABK) as the design object. The design concept adopted is to facilitate activities at YPKABK with an art therapy approach, paying attention to flexibility and paying attention to universal design rules.
