Abstract

Pasar rakyat memiliki peran yang penting dalam masyarakat, dengan terjadinya interaksi ekonomi dan sosial ia dapat mengembangkan ekonomi rakyat dengan memenuhi kebutuhan rakyat. Dewasa ini perkembangan sektor perdagangan begitu pesat dengan berkembangnya pasar modern berpotensi menimbulkan dampak negatif terhadap eksistensi dan keberlangsungan pasar tradisional.

Pasar Rakyat Oro-Oro Dowo terletak di Kecamatan Klojen, Kota Malang, Provinsi Jawa Timur dan eksistensinya memiliki citra positif sebagai contoh suksesnya revitalisasi pasar rakyat. Pasar Rakyat Oro-Oro Dowo memiliki keunikan dan nilai historisnya tersendiri. Namun dalam rangka regenerasi kini Pasar Rakyat Oro-Oro Dowo memerlukan suatu inovasi dalam mempertahankan eksistensinya pada liberasi perdagangan di Indonesia.

Berangkat dari peluang pertumbuhan ekonomi kreatif Kota Malang, industri kuliner dirasa tepat dalam membantu meningkatkan aktivasi pasar pada Pasar Rakyat Oro-Oro Dowo. Dengan penambahan food hall pada Pasar Rakyat Oro-Oro Dowo, diperlukan pula upaya redesain bangunan pasar berkonsep kontemporer dalam cakupan idealisasi fungsi pasar dan peremajaan bangunan. Dengan adanya upaya peningkatan aktivasi pasar, diharapkan Pasar Rakyat Oro-Oro Dowo dapat memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat dan menjaga keberlangsungan pasar rakyat di Indonesia.

Traditional market has an important role in our community. Supported by economic
and social interactions, traditional market plays a role in developing people’s economy
by accomplishing their needs. Currently, the development of trading sector is growing
rapidly. This rapid development, especially the development of modern market, may
bring negative outcomes to the existence and sustainability of traditional market.
Oro-Oro Dowo Traditional Market is located in Klojen, Malang City, East Java. It
has a positive image as an example of a successful revitalization of the traditional market.
This traditional market has its own beauty and history. However, in the context of
regeneration, this traditional market needs an innovation to maintain its presence in trade
liberalization in Indonesia.
According to creative economic growth development in Malang, the culinary
industry is applicable to increase the “market activation” of Oro-Oro Dowo Traditional
Market. With the additional food hall at Oro-Oro Dowo Traditional Market, it is also
necessary to redesign the object with a contemporary design concept. The concept
encompasses market functions optimization and its building rejuvenation. With the effort
of increasing “market activation”, the goal is Oro-Oro Dowo Traditional Market would
fulfill the community needs and maintain the sustainability of traditional market in
Indonesia.
