Abstract

Sodium Hydroxide merupakan salah satu bahan yang banyak digunakan dalam industri kimia dengan produk hasil akhir yang sangat beragam, seperti pada proses pulping dan bleaching dalam industri pulp dan kertas, proses saponifikasi dalam industry sabun, melarutkan bijih bauksit, dan masih banyak lainnya. Proses produksi NaOH dari garam NaCl dapat digunakan beberapa cara yaitu dengan elektrolisis sel merkuri, elektrolisis sel diafragma, dan elektrolisis sel membrane. Elektorlisis sel membrane merupakan teknogi yang paling banyak digunakan dalam proses produksi NaOH dikarenakan kebutuhan akan energi yang kecil, mampu untuk menghasilkan NaOH dengan tingkat kemurnian yang cukup tinggi, dan tidak berbahaya bagi lingkungan. Dalam proses produksi NaOH dengan sel membrane terdapat beberapa tahap pengolahan yaitu pelarutan garam, purifikasi brine, elektrolisis, dan juga pemekatan NaOH. Pabrik Sodium Hydroxide akan didirikan di Kabupaten Gresik, Jawa Timur. Pendirian pabrik diestimasi pada tahun 2023. Berdasarkan analisis ekonomi untuk kapasitas pabrik 100.000 ton/tahun, laju pengembalian modal (IRR) pabrik ini sebesar 23,47% pada tingkat suku bunga 8% per-tahun dan laju inflasi 1,38% per tahun. Sedangkan untuk waktu pengembalian modal (POT) adalah 3,87 tahun dan titik impas (BEP) sebesar 36,4%

Sodium Hydroxide is one of the materials that is widely used in the chemical industry with very diverse end products, such as in the pulping and bleaching process in the pulp and paper industry, the saponification process in the soap industry, dissolving bauxite ore, and many others. The production process of NaOH from NaCl salt can be used in several ways, namely by electrolysis of mercury cells, electrolysis of diaphragm cells, and electrolysis of membrane cells. Cell membrane electrolysis is the most widely used technology in the NaOH production process due to the need for small energy, being able to produce NaOH with a fairly high level of purity, and not being harmful to the environment. In the process of producing NaOH with cell membranes, there are several processing steps, namely salt saturation, brine purification, electrolysis, and also NaOH concentration. The Sodium Hydroxide Plant will be established in Gresik, East Java. The establishment of the factory is estimated in 2023. Based on the economic analysis for a factory capacity of 100,000 tons/year, the rate of return on capital (IRR) of this plant is 23.47% at an interest rate of 8% per year and an inflation rate of 1.38% per year. Meanwhile, the payback period (POT) is 3.87 years and the break-even point (BEP) is 36.4%
