Abstract

The Extended Elastic Impedance (EEI) Inversion Method is one of seismic inversion methods used to analyze the distribution of lithology and fluids in reservoir. The application of the optimum chi angle in the EEI Inversion Method is used as an important parameter in the inversion process. Therefore, in this study, the EEI seismic inversion method was not only used to determine the distribution of sandstone and reservoir characterization but also was used to determine the most sensitive elastic parameters in distinguishing lithology and fluid in the “G” field of the Kutai Basin. The research was conducted using well data, PSTM seismic data, checkshot data, and horizon data. Log data analysis was carried out in this study to obtain the target zone and elasticity parameters through sensitivity analysis on the log data, then the AVO volume attribute creation was carried out as an input for the EEI reflectivity volume, besides the optimum chi angle analysis in the target log was carried out as an important parameter in EEI inversion. The chi angle of 18o is used in this study based on the Lambda Rho target log because Lambda Rho is the most sensitive elastic parameter and has the highest target log correlation value, which is 0.99. Based on the analysis that has been carried out, the direction of the distribution of sandstone is seen to spread to the northeast with an EEI value range of 8400 – 8963 m/s*g/cc. The reservoir characteristics of the research area are sandstone reservoir that thicken to the northeast with a tunning thickness of 62.5 meters and is located in a deltaic depositional environment with fluvial flood plain facies characteristics.
