Abstract

Carbonatogenic bacteria are bacteria that can precipitate CaCO3. Some species form endospores that are resistant to extreme environments and also can produce CaCO3 which is one of the components of the concrete. The purpose of this research is to find out the effect of adding carbonatogenic bacterial endospores and vegetative cell to strengthen the concrete structure. The isolates used were Bacillus JA1, JB3, SU1, AK4, Lysinibacillus JB2, and Sporosarcina JA4. Endospore production was carried out on Yeast Urea (YU) broth media at a temperature of 70°C for 20 minutes. Composition of concrete follows SNI 7656: 2012 and the compressive strength test of concrete uses a compression testing machine according to SNI 1974-2011. Bioconcrete with endospores produces better compressive strength and maximum load than vegetative cells. The highest compressive strength and maximum load were bioconcrete with Bacillus AK4 endospores, which is 20.93 Mpa and 16,433.33 Kgf.
