Abstract

Pada penelitian ini dilakukan sintesis zeolit-NaY secara hidrotermal, dan di pelajari penambahan berat zeolit-NaY pada Mixed Matrix Membrane (MMM) PES/Zeolit-NaY dengan modulasi membran datar (flat-sheet), serta dipelajari mekanisme dan kinerja permeasi serta selektivitas MMM untuk pemisahan gas-gas N2/CH4, N2/O2, CO2O2, dan H2/CH4. Hasil karakterisasi XRD berhasil mengkonfirmasi terbentuknya zeolit-NaY dengan ukuran rata-rata konstanta kisi sel sebesar 25,8777 dengan kemurnian tinggi dan telah sesuai dengan JCPDS: PDF nomor 00-038-0238 dan PDF nomor 00-038-0240. Hasil ini juga di dukung oleh hasil FTIR yang menunjukkan adanya gugus fungsi khas zeolit-NaY. Hasil karakterisasi SEM-EDS pada membran menunjukkan partikel pengisi membran (filler) zeolit-NaY berbentuk oktahedral telah berhasil didistribusikan dengan baik pada permukaan MMM PES/Zeolit-NaY 0,5% b/b. Bentuk pori pada membran diketahui berbentuk menyerupai jari (finger-like). Mekanisme difusi pada pemisahan gas MMM mengikuti mekanisme difusi larutan, difusi permukaan, difusi molekular, dan difusi Knudsen. Kinerja permeasi pada MMM mengalami penurunan yang disebabkan efek berliku jalur difusi (tortuosity) sebagai akibat dari terjadinya aglomerasi partikel pada MMM dengan penambahan zeolit 1% b/b dan 1,5% b/b. Hasil penambahan zeolit yang paling optimal pada penelitian ini didapatkan pada variasi penambahan berat zeolit sebesar 0,5% b/b, dimana penurunan permeasi tidak begitu dignifikan, sementara selektivitas pemisahan pada semua pasangan gas N2/CH4, N2/O2, CO2/O2, CO2/CH4, dan H2/CH4 dengan masing masing memiliki selektivitas 4,88; 2,19; 1,31; 2,93; dan 12,35 dari selektivitas yang diberikan polimer yaitu masing-masing 4,06; 1,8; 1,12; 2,53; dan 10,84.

In this research, zeolite-NaY was synthesized hydrothermally, and studied the weight addition of zeolite-NaY on Mixed Matrix Membrane (MMM) PES/Zeolite-NaY with flat-sheet modulation and studied the mechanism and performance of permeation and selectivity of MMM. for the separation of gases N2/CH4, N2/O2, CO2/O2, and H2/CH4. XRD characterization results confirmed the formation of zeolite-NaY with an average cell lattice constant size of 25.8777 with high purity and was in accordance with JCPDS: PDF No. 00-038-0238 and PDF No. 00-038-0240. This result is also supported by the FTIR results, which show the presence of a typical zeolite-NaY functional group. The results of SEM-EDS characterization on the membrane showed that the octahedral zeolite-NaY filler particles had been successfully distributed on the 0.5% w/w PES/Zeolite-NaY MMM surface. The pore shape of the membrane is known to be finger-like. The diffusion mechanism in MMM gas separation follows the solution diffusion mechanism, surface diffusion, molecular diffusion, and Knudsen diffusion. The permeation performance of MMM decreased due to the winding effect of the diffusion path (tortuosity) as a result of particle agglomeration in MMM with the addition of 1% w/w and 1.5% w/w zeolite. The results of the most optimal addition of zeolite in this study were found in the variation of zeolite weight gain of 0.5% w/w, where the decrease in permeation was not so significant, while the selectivity of separation in all gas pairs N2/CH4, N2/O2, CO2/O2, CO2/CH4 and H2/CH4 with each having a selectivity of 4.88; 2.19; 1.31; 2.93; and 12.35 of the given selectivity of the polymer ie 4.06 respectively; 1.8; 1.12; 2.53; and 10.84.
