Abstract

Bucket hydraulic cylinder, which is a component of excavator heavy equipment, is a repairable component so that damage in the bucket hydraulic cylinder components can be overcome by periodic repair and replacement. The problem is the determination of the replacement time for the bucket hydraulic cylinder components cannot be carried out randomly because it can cause the cost overruns due to failure. Therefore, in this study, the optimization of replacement time for bucket hydraulic cylinder components is carried out to minimize the cost of component failures. The Power Law Process model, which is a model that follows the Non-Homogeneous Poisson Process, is utilized to model the breakdown of hydraulic cylinder bucket components. The results of the analysis show that the optimal replacement time for the bucket hydraulic cylinder component is when the component reaches the age of 3.367 hours meter or when the component experiences the 6-th failure, depending on which occurs first. The expected cost of failures is Rp. 24.229 per hours meter or equivalent to Rp. 78.429.273 per mean time to replacement, which is 3.237 hours meter. The replacement time of this optmization result will reduce the cost of failures by 6,81%.
