Abstract

The Work Project of Strengthening Pier Structure of Terminal Berlian on Tanjung Perak Surabaya is a process of strengthening caisson wall as a result of the pier’s age which is more than 80 years old as well as increasing capacity of Terminal Berlian’s Pier from 15.000 to 50.000 DWT by adding a new structure surrounding the pier at the seaside using Steel Pipe Sheet Pile having a width of 32 meters.
The casting realization has a leak in the connector from several viewpoints on one of the casting points, the casting is varied between 0,35 m3 and 0,7 m3 while it is supposed to be 0,3 m3 (Project Data, 2020). Therefore, the author proposes to design an alternative way to strengthen Terminal Berlian’s Pier using the HZ/AZ Combined Wall. This model does not need to do casting to the connector, has a wide surface dimension, and is relatively thin hence the volume of concrete and steel that is used can be reduced.
The result of this study shows that HZ/AZ Combined Wall having a length of 32 meter on drained condition resulting modulus section in the amount of 4339 cm3/m is still smaller than the capacity which is at 5600 cm3/m and displacement by 5,82 cm, while Steel Pipe Sheet Pile resulting modulus section in the amount of 3060 cm3/m is still smaller than the capacity which is at 9110 cm3/m and displacement by 6,2 cm. In conclusion, HZ/AZ Combined Wall has satisfy the needs from the aspect of structure’s strength so that furthermore the other aspects as well as the utilization can be considered.
