Abstract

PT PLN (Persero) PUSHARLIS UP2W VI Surabaya produces a coal nozzle
burner which is needed for the maintenance of the steam power plant. The
phenomenon of demand for lead times that are getting faster to meet needs, requires
companies to be able to produce quality products and on time delivery. For this
reason, the company seeks to make improvements so that it can produce more
effectively and efficiently through a Lean approach that can identify and eliminate
waste or activities that are not added value. This study identifies activities that
contain waste based on 9 types of waste using value stream mapping and process
activity mapping. The Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process method is used to
determine the waste ranking. Based on the FAHP method, the highest rank of waste
is defect, and the lowest rank of waste is inventory. Lean tools, Poka Yoke, and
Kanban are used as recommendations for improvement. Recommendation for
improvement is the use of Jig-fixture in the welding process to avoid waste defects.
The next recommendation is the use of a CNC laser cutting machine to avoid waste
defects in the material cutting process, and welder certification to reduce defects in
the welding process. The last recommendation is the implementation of Kanban
which is carried out by using 2 types of Kanban, namely command Kanban and
withdrawal Kanban to optimize the communication system on the production floor.
