Abstract

Export is an activity of shipping goods from the domestic custom area to the custom area of other countries. Export of ASEAN countries during 2015-2019 tended to increase. This plays an important role in encouraging a country’s economic growth through increasing economic competitiveness, as well as maintaining ASEAN economic stability both internally and externally. There are several factors that are thought to affect export, including GDP per capita, the value of national exchange rate to USD, inflation, export value index, and foreign direct investment. This study aims to modelling ASEAN exports using dynamic panel data regression with GMM Arellano-Bond approach. The dynamic model is used to obtain the short-term and long-term effects of ASEAN exports. Stepwise regression is used as the method of selecting the best regression equation. The data used in this study is secondary data from ASEAN publication and the official website of the World Bank in ten ASEAN countries during 2015-2019. The result show that GDP per capita, export value index, and investment have a significant effect on ASEAN exports. In the short-term, every 1% increase in GDP per capita, export value index, and investment will increase ASEAN exports by 0.533%, 0.136%, and 0.078% in the same year, while in the long-term it will increase ASEAN exports by 0.783%, 0.199%, and 0.115%.
