Abstract

The demand for energy sources continues to grow along with the increasing population. Most of the energy use in Indonesia still depends on non-renewable energy sources. Meanwhile, the supply of non-renewable energy sources is decreasing. To prevent energy shortages, it is necessary to develop new and renewable energy. However, the development of renewable energy requires a large cost and also a long time. Therefore, it is necessary to control the production of renewable and non-renewable energy sources. In this research, optimum control theory is applied by using the Model Predictive Control (MPC) method. In the MPC control design simulation, two cases are used. For the rst case, the reference value has been determined. Meanwhile, in the second case, the reference value varies with time. The results of the MPC application show that the production levels of both energy sources reach the desired references. This shows that MPC is able to perform optimal control on both energy sources.
