Abstract

Perkembangan board game di Indonesia sangat pesat dengan menjamurnya board game cafe di berbagai tempat dan bertambahnya penerbit board game dari tahun ke tahun. Selain itu, keseharian masyarakat yang dekat dengan budaya menjadikan boardgame dengan tema jelajah budaya lokal menciptakan peluang bisnis dalam bidang ini. Dengan mengambil tema Kota Tua Jakarta salah satu aset cagar budaya yang menyimpan sejarah tentang perdagangan dan kolonialisme Belanda yang sangat cocok dengan target segmen remaja SMA yang senang bereksplorasi.
Metode yang digunakan dalam perancangan board game jelajah Kota Tua ini adalah dengan menggunakan studi literartur tentang sejarah Kota Tua dan langkah membuat board game, observasi ke beberapa tempat di Kota Tua, eksplorasi gameplay untuk membuat gameplay, wawancara dengan desainer dan game master board game, eksplorasi visual membuat visualisasi dari gameplay, prototyping komponen board game, dan playtesting pada target segmen yaitu remaja Sekolah Menengah Atas yang berusia 15-18 tahun.
Konsep yang diambil dari perancangan boargame ini adalah “Let travel back in time” yaitu mengajak para pemain untuk menjelajahi kota Batavia pada zaman dahulu dan mengetahui sejarah apa saja yang terjadi di sana. Selain itu, penggunaan mekanik seperti roll dice, point to point movement, collectable set, dan variable player power dipakai menyesuaikan dengan permainan serta semi-cooperative dan competitive digunakan agar pemain dapat berinteraksi dengan pemain lainnya. Harapannya dengan perancangan board game Kota Tua Jakarta ini pemain dapat bersenang-senang serta mendapat pengetahuan tentang cagar budaya yang ada di Kota Tua.

The development of board games in Indonesia is very rapid with the increasing amount of board game cafe in various place and increasing of board game publisher from year to year. Besides, the daily activities of people who are close to culture make board game with the theme of exploring local cultures to create business opportunities in this field. Taking the theme Kota Tua Jakarta is one of the cultural heritage assets that holds a history of Dutch trade and colonialism which is very suitable for the target segment of high school teenagers who likes to explore.
The method used in the design of the Kota Tua exploration board game is to use literary studies about the history of the Kota Tua and steps to make a board game, observation to several places in the Kota Tua, exploration gameplay to make a gameplay, interviews with designers and game master board games, Visual eskploration to make a visualization about the gameplay begin, prototyping makes board game components, and play testing on the target segment, namely high school adolescents aged 15-18 years.
The concept taken from the design of this board game is "Let travel back in time”, which is to invite players to explore the city of Batavia and find out what is there. Besides, the use of mechanics such as roll dice, point to point movement, collectible sets, and variable player power is used to match the game, and semi-cooperative and competitive are used so that players can interact with other players. The hope is that by designing the Kota Tua Jakarta board game, players can have fun and gain knowledge about the cultural heritage in Kota Tua.
