Abstract

Massive Online Learning Open Online (MOOC) is one of the fastest growing online learning platforms in the world. By the end of 2018, more than 900 universities worldwide had developed or launched 11,400 MOOCs. Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is one of the institutions planning to implement MOOC as a new learning tool. This implementation is expected to be realized in 2045, according to the results of the ITS senate meeting. As an educational technology model that is Massive and Open, MOOC is designed to be accessible to more students than is possible through conventional methods. Many experts have also proposed the advantages of MOOC. However, even though MOOC provides many benefits and is well-liked by universities, MOOC still has many shortcomings such as high student dropout rates. Thus, the purpose of this study was to idenify the factors affecting students' readiness for MOOC based on a blended learning approach, which will be the basis of recommendations for ITS to implement MOOC going forward. This study adapted quantitative based approach to analyse the data gathered. Descriptive analysis and factor analysis are used to empirically analyse a total of 38 items on student attitudes. The attitudes mentioned are attitudes towards learning flexibility, online learning, study management, technology, online interaction, and classroom learning. This study summarizes that, when students had a positive attitude towards learning flexibility, online learning, study management, technology, and online interaction, the students were more likely to adapt to blended learning and highly ready towards MOOC learning. On the other hand, when students had a positive attitude towards classroom learning, they were less likely ready towards MOOC learning, as they would prefer to meet their lecturers and friends in physical lecture classes compared to the web-based classes.
