Abstract
Human resources (HR) is one of the factors that plays an important role in determining technological change. Higher Education is one of the forums to support the realization of competent human resources. Department of Statistics, Faculty Science and Data Analytics of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology also played a role in becoming a forum for this to be realized. In practice, the theory obtained in lectures is static and not necessarily the same as the facts on the ground thus encouraging the Statistics Department to guide students to do practical work so that students have readiness in facing professional work with the field of science they are involved in and get an overview of the realities of the world of work. One of the Institutions that can be used as a forum for practical work with directly related science with the Department of Statistics is Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) of Luwu Regency.

Sumber daya manusia (SDM) adalah salah satu faktor yang
memegang peranan penting sebagai penentu perubahan teknologi. Perguruan Tinggi merupakan salah satu wadah untuk mendukung terwujudnya SDM yang kompeten. Departemen Statistika Fakultas
Sains dan Analitika Data Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember turut ambil peran dalam menjadi wadah terwujudnya hal tersebut. Dalam pelaksaannya, teori yang diperoleh dalam perkulihaan bersifat statis dan belum tentu sama dengan fakta di lapangan
sehingga mendorong Departemen Statistika ITS membimbing mahasiswa untuk melakukan Kerja Praktek agar mahasiswa memiliki kesiapan dalam menghadapi keprofesionalan pekerjaan dengan bidang Ilmu yang digeluti serta mendapatkan gambaran tentang realita dunia kerja. Salah satu Instansi yang dapat dijadikan wadah Kerja Praktik dengan keilmuan yang berkaitan langsung
dengan Departemen Statistika adalah Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) Kabupaten Luwu.
