Abstract

Korosi tidak dapat dihindari terutama seperti pipa baja dalam industri minyak dan gas. Tetapi terdapat cara untuk menghambatnya salah satunya dengan menambahkan inhibitor. Inhibitor yang baik adalah inhibitor yang terbuat dari bahan alami organik karena bersifat ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan membuat inhibitor ekstrak daun talas beneng yang kemudian ditambahkan ke dalam HCl 1 M yang terdapat spesimen baja API 5L Grade B dengan konsentrasi ekstrak 0 mg/L - 500 mg/L. Ekstrak tersebut diujikan pada pengujian Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR), Potentiodynamic Polarization (PDP), Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), dan Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Hasil pengujian FTIR diketahui bahwa ekstrak daun talas beneng dapat dijadikan inhibitor karena memenuhi persyaratan unsur O, ikatan rangkap, dan ikatan aromatik. Pada pengujian PDP terjadi penurunan laju korosi pada Baja API 5 L Grade B pada media asam HCl 1 M. Pada sampel tanpa inhibitor diperoleh laju korosi sebesar 5,8497 mm/year. Efisiensi tertinggi ditunjukan pada sampel dengan variasi konsentrasi 200 mg/L sebesar 74,4766% dengan nilai laju korosi sebesar 1,493 mm/year. Pengujian SEM menunjukkan bentuk permukaan spesimen Baja API 5 L Grade B dengan penambahan inhibitor terlihat lebih halus dibandingkan dengan tanpa inhibitor.

Corrosion is unavoidable especially like steel pipes in the oil and gas industry. But there are ways to reduce the corrosion rate, one of which is by adding an inhibitor. A good inhibitor is an inhibitor that made from organic materials because it is safe for the environment. This research was carried out by making an inhibitor of taro beneng leaves extract which was then added to 1 M HCl containing API 5L Grade B steel specimens with an extract concentration of 0 mg/L - 500 mg/L. The extract was tested on Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR), Potentiodynamic Polarization (PDP), Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) tests. The results of the FTIR test showed that taro beng leaf extract could be used as an inhibitor because it met the requirements for element O, double bonds, and aromatic bonds. In the PDP test, there was a decrease in the corrosion rate of API 5 L Grade B steel on 1 M HCl acid media. In the sample without inhibitor, the corrosion rate was 5.8497 mm/year. The highest efficiency was shown in the sample with a concentration variation of 200 mg/L of 74.4766% with a corrosion rate of 1.493 mm/year. The SEM test showed that the surface shape of the API 5L Grade B Steel specimen with the addition of an inhibitor looked smoother than without an inhibitor.
