Abstract

Garbage is a problem faced by almost all countries. Not only in developing countries, but also in developed countries, waste is always a problem. On average, big cities in Indonesia produce tens of tons of waste every day. The waste generated is dominated by organic waste which reaches about 60 percent and plastic waste which reaches 15 percent of the total waste generation, especially in urban areas. According to the data, it shows that in the last 10 years the amount of waste has continued to increase. It is undeniable that waste that is not managed properly will cause pollution in our environment. Therefore, in this final project, the manufacture of an organic waste chopper machine will be carried out through the calculations of machine elements, especially the transmission system.
The steps taken for this purpose are: instrument observation, literature study, data collection, tool design, equipment procurement, tool assembly and then tool testing. So you can find out the capacity of the machine.
The results of each calculation and diameter concluded that this tool uses 4 pulleys which are 101.6 mm, 254 mm, 127 mm and 127 mm. The selected V-belt is a type B V-Belt with a length of 1600 mm and a belt life of 1159262,22 hours and a V-belt type B with a length of 1000 mm and a lifespan of 16690909,21 hours. For the bearing diameter used is 30 mm with bearing age A 1159262.22 working hours, bearing B 32389543.76 working hours, bearing C9861131 working hours and bearing D 29064360.12 working hours. The capacity obtained from the experimntal results is 213 kg/hour.
