Abstract

Demand of earthquake resilient building has become the main concern in minimizing dead tools caused by debris during earthquake. Timber is one of prospective structural materials which has a good resilience against earthquake due to its lightweight. However, timber material is still not common to be used for mid-rise to high-rise building. This is due to high brittle failure probability in the connection area. This failure can be turned down by reinforcing the connection area using CFRP jacketing. However, using CFRP jacketing for whole members can sap the ductility of the structure and escalate construction cost. By using hybrid connection in which consists of connection with and without CFRP reinforcements, the structure will have a better ductility and higher collapse margin ratio (CMR) value.
