Abstract

Perkembangan suatu kota secara keseluruhan akan sangat dipengaruhi dari keberhasilan tiap kawasan yang terdapat di dalamnya. Kawasan yang vital bagi suatu kota merupakan kawasan pusat kota atau yang sering dikenal dengan central business district karena pada kawasan ini terdapat berbagai aktivitas serta fasilitas utama pada kota. Salah satunya adalah sektor layanan perdagangan, di mana aktivitas jual beli merupakan aktivitas utama masyarakat dalam memenuhi kebutuhannya. Pasar menjadi representasi layanan perdagangan yang dapat menampung kebutuhan dari berbagai lapisan masyarakat. Kota memiliki tuntutan agar tetap mampu mewadahi dan memenuhi kebutuhan berbelanja masyarakat yang semakin dinamis seiring dengan berkembangnya zaman. Di mana salah satu yang nampak nyata adalah tren gaya hidup berbelanja masyarakat, juga mengalami perubahan akibat pergeseran budaya. Fenomena tersebut terjadi pula pada Kota Salatiga. Dalam perkembangannya, masyarakat Kota Salatiga menjadi semakin beragam, berasal dari latar belakang, kemampuan ekonomi, jenjang pendidikan, serta kondisi sosial-budaya yang berbeda-beda. Serta tidak dapat dipungkiri pula bahwa kebutuhan dari tiap individu masyarakat pun menjadi sangat beragam, mengikuti peradaban yang akan selalu berkembang. Hadirnya suatu objek arsitektur yang berfungsi sebagai pusat perbelanjaan yang mampu mewadahi keragaman ini diharapkan mampu mengakulturasikan berbagai perbedaan tersebut dan mencerminkan karakter masyarakat Salatiga yang toleran. Aspek yang ditekankan adalah perbedaan budaya belanja masyarakat yaitu budaya belanja tradisional dan modern, di mana keduanya mampu berjalan secara beriringan dengan konsep one stop shopping. Selain mempertimbangkan faktor sosio-kultur, iklim pun menjadi faktor penting dalam rancangan Pasar Raya II ini. Dengan letaknya yang terdapat di pusat kota, Pasar Raya II dapat meningkatkan citra Kota Salatiga sehingga wisatawan pun tertarik untuk berkunjung.

The development of a city as a whole will be greatly influenced by the success of each area contained in it. A vital area for a city is the downtown area or what is often known as the central business district because in this area there are various activities and main facilities in the city. One of them is the trade service sector, where buying and selling is the main activity of the community in meeting their needs. The market is a representation of trading services that can accommodate the needs of various levels of society. Cities have demands to be able to accommodate and meet the shopping needs of people who are increasingly dynamic in line with the times. One of the things that seems real is the trend of people's shopping lifestyle, also experiencing changes due to cultural shifts.
This phenomenon also occurs in Salatiga. In its development, citizens of Salatiga have become increasingly diverse, coming from different backgrounds, economic abilities, education levels, and socio-cultural conditions. And it is undeniable that the needs of each individual society become very diverse, following a civilization that will always develop. The presence of an architectural object that functions as a shopping center that is able to accommodate this diversity is expected to be able to acculturate these differences and reflect the tolerant character of the Salatiga community. The aspect that is emphasized is the difference in people's shopping culture, namely traditional and modern shopping culture, where both are able to go hand in hand with the concept of one stop shopping. Apart from considering socio-cultural factors, climate is also an important factor in the design of Pasar Raya II. With its location in the city center, Pasar Raya II can improve the image of Salatiga so that tourists are also interested in visiting.
