Abstract

The speed of decay that occurs in fish is also greatly influenced by the improper storage process. Cooling is one of the supporting and supporting efforts to maintain the quality of the caught fish to keep it fresh and prevent the development of microorganisms in fish. Along with the development of technology, a cooling method was found using the Refrigerated Sea Water (RSW) system where the fish storage process was considered to be more optimal and efficient. This RSW system uses a simple vapor compression system using 8 components, namely compressor, evaporator, condenser, refrigerant, sight glass, expansion valve, seawater pump and spray nozzle. The purpose of this study was to conduct a technical analysis of the specifications of the RSW system components on fishing vessel selection. In this study, the system used is needed to analyze how much effectiveness and efficiency the components in the RSW system are, so the method that will be used is to technically examine the components used in the RSW system as a cooling system for ships of this specification. By going through the calculations that have been done, the cooling load is 14.49 kW. So the RSW system uses refrigerant R-22, compressor and condenser (condensing unit) with a cooling capacity of 14.98 kW and a power consumption of 8.79 kW, a dry expansion shell and tube evaporator with an evaporator length of 1500 mm, a shell diameter of 225 mm and a capacity of 46.5 kW. From the addition of the system on board the additional 40 kW generator. So that the rsw system component has an efficiency of 73.5%
