Abstract

Setiap tahun, permintaan nikel meningkat. Nikel digunakan untuk membuat katoda dalam baterai Nickel Mangan Cobalt (NMC). Untuk membuat baterai NMC, nikel (II) heksahidrat sulfat (NiSO4.6H2O) dibutuhkan. Dalam penelitian ini, nikel laterit dipilih sebagai bahan baku utama. Bijih nikel laterit dari ferronickel hasil pirometalurgi mini blast furnace akan digunakan dalam proses leaching. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan pengaruh metode pencucian pada hasil kristalisasi dari larutan leaching ferronickel terhadap recovery pembentukan NiSO4.6H2O dengan variasi berbagai jenis larutan, termasuk aquadest, metanol, etanol, isopropil alkohol, dan NaCl pekat. Prosedur pencucian melibatkan pemanasan 120 mL larutan H2SO4 2M hingga 90°C selama 6 jam sambil diaduk pada 200 rpm, kemudian menetralkan dengan bubuk CaCO3 pada 90°C ke pH 3,01. Pada akhirnya, metode pencucian dengan variasi larutan diterapkan. Hasil terbaik adalah dengan variabel pencucian aquadest dengan nilai recovery mencapai 94,47 % dan hanya menyisakan kadar Ca dengan nilai 0,87 % pada produk kristal.

Every year, the demand for nickel rises. Nickel is used to make the cathode in Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) batteries, which is one of its many applications. In order to make NMC batteries, nickel (II) sulphate hexahydrate (NiSO4.6H2O) molecules are required. In this research, nickel laterite was chosen as the primary raw material. The ferronickel produced by pyro-technics in nickel laterite ore will be used in the leaching process. The goal of this research is to determine the impact of washing methods on crystallization results from ferronickel leaching solution on recovery in the production of NiSO4.6H2O with variations of different types of solutions, including aquadest, methanol, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, and concentrated NaCl. The leaching procedure involves heating 120 mL of H2SO4 2M solution to 90°C for 6 hours while stirring at 200 rpm, then neutralizing with CaCO3 powder at 90°C to a pH of 3.01. At the end, the washing method with variation of solutions is applied. The best result is with the aquadest washing variable with a recovery value of 94.47% and only leaves a Ca level with a value of 0.87% in crystal products.
