Abstract

================================================================================================
Since the emergence of Covid-19 at the end of 2019 it has infected millions of the world's population, this situation has made many changes in people's lives both from an economic and social perspective. In order to break the chain of spread of COVID-19, the government must implement several policies, including limiting the number of workers working in offices for certain sectors. The construction industry, which is an important industry in the economy, is included in a critical sector, where workers are required to work 100% from the office amid conditions of uncertainty when the pandemic will end, and this is exacerbated by the presence of new variants that have spread in several places. This condition creates a sense of concern not only for the company but also for the workers. In this case the workers will have a sense of insecurity while working both when interacting with friends at the construction site and with other people outside the construction site. Safety refers to the availability of equipment or safety aspects provided by the company for workers.
This research is a quantitative research that uses Partial Least Square – Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. Data were obtained through questionnaires given to respondents, namely Labuan Bajo Multipurpose Pier construction workers. It is hoped that the role of feeling safety in workers during the COVID-19 pandemic can be found, especially in the construction sector so that the results can be used as additional literature and a basic reference for policy recommendations in improving worker performance.
The results of this study indicate that all variables are valid and reliable with R2 of 57%, 13% and 70.6% respectively and this model can explain the total coefficient of determination (Q2) of 89%. In testing the hypothesis, it is found that a sense of security greatly influences performance both directly and indirectly through the variables of job satisfaction and work skills where direct relationships have a greater influence on workers at construction sites during the covid-19 pandemic.
