Abstract

Teknologi ramah lingkungan dalam perkembangan desain kapal untuk mencapai pengurangan adalam mengurangi green house gases. Pada sistem propulsi berkontribusi 5 ~ 15 % dalam potensi pengurangan green house gases. Salah satu metode dalam pengurangan green house gases adalah penggunaan energy saving devices ( ESD ). ESD dalam penelitian ini menggunakan jenis propeller boss cap fins ( PBCF ). PBCF berfungsi sebagai alat peningkat effisiensi pada propeller. Penelitian ini menggunakan PBCF yang diaplikasikan dengan kapal japanese bulk carrier ( JBC ) dan propeller MP687. Terdapat 4 geometry model PBCF berdasarkan jenis airfoil ( 16 series standart & 16 series modifikasi ) serta distribusi / pola pembentukan blade PBCF. Metode experimen dilakukan pada penelitian ini menggunakan actuator disk, openwater test & selfpropultion test. Hasil peningkatan effisiensi propeller saat openwater test pada model 1 ( +0.785 % ), model 2 ( +0.782 % ), model 3 ( +1.159 % ) dan model 4 sebesar ( +1.113 % ). Sedangkan penambahan PC terbaik terdapat pada model 4 sebesar ( +1.524 % ) jika dibandingkan dengan model 1 ( +1.316 % ), model 2 ( +1.308 % ) dan model 3 ( +1.378 % ). PBCF berperan efektif dalam mengurangi hub vortex yang terjadi pada propeller ,P687 sehingga dapat meningkatkan thrust dan effisiensi propeller dan menurunkan torsi dan dapat meningkatkan PC pada kapal japanese bulk carrier.

Environmental friendly technology in the development of ship design to reduce greenhouse gasses. The propultion system contributes 5 ~ 15 % in greenhouse gas reduction potential. The methods of reducing greenhouse gases using energy saving devices (ESD). ESD in this study uses a type of propeller boss cap fins (PBCF). PBCF work as a means of increasing the efficiency of the propeller. This study uses PBCF which applied to japanese bulk carrier (JBC) and MP687 propeller. There are 4 PBCF geometry models based on the type of airfoil (16 series standart & 16 series modification) as well as the distribution / pattern of PBCF blade form. The experimental method carried out in this study using actuator disk, Openwater test on model 1 ( +0.785 % ), model 2 ( +0.782 % ), model 3 ( +1.159 % ) and model 4 ( +1.113 % ). While the addition of the best PC is found in model 4 by (+1.524%) when compared to model 1 (+1.316%), model 2 (+1.308%) and model 3 (+1.378%). PBCF plays an effective role in reducing the hub vortex that occurs in the P687 propeller so that it can increase thrust and propeller efficiency as well as reduce torque and can increase PC on Japanese bulk carrier ships.
