Abstract

Electric vehicles are one of the technologies that are
becoming a priority to be implemented in Indonesia itself. One
type of electric vehicle is the electric scooter. Considering that the
use of motorbikes or scooters is more attractive because they are
easy and practical, it is undeniable that the interest in electric
motorbikes will not be inferior to electric cars. more affordable for
the people. One of the components that make up the electric
scooter is the rim that function as a retaining structure on the
wheels that must be able to withstand the load of the vehicle and
the load under it and on the electric motor the wheels also function
as a place where the driving motor attaches to, This type commonly
known as an in-wheel motor. As a component that has this
important function, calculations and analysis are needed to make
rim that can function properly.
The purpose of writing this final project is to analyze the
static and dynamic responses of the 2 kilowatt IWM electric
scooter wheels as well as determine the model's capability,
durability, and good appearance of the electric scooter. The model
used is varied and the best is determined based on the results of
static and dynamic strength tests, the availability of raw materials
in the market and the price of raw materials. In the static test, static
structural analysis was carried out with loading from a scooter and
two passengers. Then in the dynamic response test, a modal
analysis was carried out first to get the natural frequency of the
wheels. Then two types of loading were given, namely loading due
to the excitation force in the form of an unbalance mass variation
of 0 0.02 kg, 0.03 kg, and 0.04 kg and the second loading is the
result of road contours which will represent the response of the
rims when in contact with the road. The results of the two response
analyzes will be seen in three vehicle speed modes, namely eco
mode (40km/hour), normal (60 km/hour), and sport (80 km/hour).
From the simulation results, the maximum stress value is
59.65 Mpa with a deformation of 0.03 mm on the 1 Cross
configuration alloy rim and the maximum stress is 92.92 Mpa with
a deformation of 0.085 on the 2 Cross configuration rim. In the
modal analysis simulation, there are 6 shape modes for each rim
configuration, with the lowest natural frequency of 62.33 Hz for
the 1 Cross configuration alloy rim, and the lowest natural
frequency of 41.5 Hz for the 2 Cross configuration rim. In the
dynamic loading test, when the wheel is running on road
conditions according to the international Roughness Index (IRI)
type 6 standard at a speed of 80 km/hour (16.45 Hz), the equivalent
stress value obtained is 17.448 MPa for the 1 Cross configuration
rim and 13,82 MPa for the 2 Cross configuration rim while the
deformation that occurs on both wheels is around 5 mm. In the next
dynamic loading test by giving the unbalance mass variant on the
wheels based on the ISO 1940-1 standard when the wheel rotates
at 987 rpm, the maximum equivalent stress value is obtained at
22.06 Mpa and 28.47 Mpa for alloy rim with 1 Cross and 2 Cross
configurations.
