Abstract

Welding processes that are not in accordance with procedures can cause weld defects that can
cause losses for the shipyard itself. Thus, it is necessary to increase the capability or modernize
the application of welding procedure specification in the shipyard industry. The purpose of this
final project is to make observations related to the current application of the welding procedure
specification, to design applications based on QR-Code technology as a tool for welders in
remembering and accessing welding parameter information according to the welding procedure
specification and making it easier for shipyard management to monitor appropriate welding
results. with weld joint in welding procedure specifications. Application design is done by
making application mock-ups, database design, and coding the application. QR-Code
technology can assist welders in accessing and remembering welding parameter information to
be applied and can report welding results in accordance with the weld joint in the welding
procedure specification. After that, a trial of the ease and usefulness of the website application
and android application was carried out at the shipyard. The trial was accompanied by a
questionnaire from a sample of experienced practitioners in their field. After that, an economic
analysis was carried out related to the procurement investment costs and operational costs of a
QR-Code technology-based system with a procurement cost of 125,980,000 IDR and
operational cost of 218,940,000 IDR
