Abstract

Micro hydro power plant merupakan salah satu jenis pembangkit listrik tenaga air yang dapat mengonversi energi air menjadi energi listrik dengan daya keluaran 5 kW –100 kW. Salah satu pemanfaatan dari micro hydro adalah Gravitational Water Vortex Power Plant (GWVPP). Pada penelitian ini dilakukan analisis terkait pengaruh sudut kelengkungan dan jumlah sudu runner dengan metode numerik CFD. Data yang dianalisis berupa streamline, kontur kecepatan, kontur tekanan, velocity vector, dan volume fraction. Selain itu, disajikan data berupa torsi, vortex height, daya poros, dan Coefficient of Power(Cp) sebagai data kuantitatif untuk menilai performansi GWVPP terbaik. Berdasarkan simulasi yang telah dilakukan, didapatkan bahwa Cp tertinggi berada pada nilai 69.811% dengan konfigurasi sudut inlet tip38°dan outlet tip74°serta memiliki jumlah sudu 4.Jumlah sudu 4 menghasilkan daya poros tertinggi sebab area sudu untuk bersentuhan dengan air paling besar dibanding lainnya dan didukung dengan pembentukan vortex paling baik. Selain itu, perubahan sudut tip juga mempengaruhi karakteristik performansi runner. Dengan penurunan sudut outletdan peningkatan inlettip dapat meningkatkan Cp dan daya poros.

Micro hydropower plant is oneof hydroelectric power plant type that can convert water energy into electrical energy with an output power 5 kW –100 kW. One of utilization of this plant is Gravitational Water Vortex Power Plant. This study was conducted on the effect of the tip angle and number of runner blades using numerical study CFD method. Based on the simulation results, it shown that the best Cp value was at 69.811% with the configuration of the inlet tip angle of 38° and outlet tipof 74°. The runner with 4 blades produces the highest power because the blade area to harness the water is the largest with the best vortex formation. In addition, changes in the tip angle also affect the performance of the runner. By decreasing the outlet tip and increasing the inlet tip can increasethe Cp and shaft power.
