Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan secara eksperimental untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan gurney passive movable flap terhadap performa turbin Darrieus straight blade dengan hydrofoil NACA 0018 dan NACA 0021. Variasi yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu konfigurasi posisi gurney passive movable flap in (sisi dalam turbin), out (sisi luar turbin), dan both (kedua sisi turbin) dan dilakukan pada flume tank dengan kecepatan 0.17 m/s, 0.21 m/s, dan 0.29 m/s. Penambahan gurney passive movable flap dengan konfigurasi in memiliki efek positif terhadap performa turbin simetris untuk NACA 0018 dan NACA 0021 dengan dapat menunda separasi aliran dan menahan reversed flow yang dapat mengakibatkan stall pada hydrofoil, terutama pada sudut 0o hingga 90o dimana terjadinya ekstraksi torsi terbesar untuk turbin Darrieus straight blade. Penambahan gurney passive movable flap konfigurasi in pada turbin dengan hydrofoil NACA 0021 memiliki rata – rata nilai Cp lebih tinggi daripada hydrofoil NACA 0018 dengan selisih nilai rata – rata Cp mencapai 78% pada Re 14500, 60% pada Re 10500.

This research was conducted experimentally to determine effect of adding gurney passive movable flap to the performance of Darrieus straight blade turbine. The variations used in this study are configuration of the position of gurney passive movable flap inside of turbine, outside of turbine, and both sides of turbine and carried out on the flume tank at speeds of 0.17 m/s, 0.21 m/s, and 0.29 m/s. The addition of gurney passive movable flap with in configuration has a positive effect on performance of symmetrical turbine for hydrofoil NACA 0018 and NACA 0021 by being able to delay flow separation and restrain reversed flow which can cause stall on hydrofoil, especially at angels 0o to 90o where the largest torque extraction occurs for straight blade Darrieus turbine. The addition of gurney passive movable flap with in configuration on turbine with NACA 0021 hydrofoil has a higher average Cp value than NACA 0018 hydrofoil with difference in the average Cp value reaching 78% at Re 14500, 60% at Re 10500.
