Abstract

Energy transformation causes an increase in the need for electrical energy in the industrial sector. This makes the electric power system a very important part to support various processes that occur in industry. In electric power systems, overcurrent is one of the most common disturbances. This disturbance can be caused by an overload or short circuit in the system. PT. Pertamina RU V Balikpapan as one of the state-owned companies engaged in oil and gas processing has a very important role in maintaining the national fuel supply. Conditions like this certainly require a good electrical power safety system so that the availability of electrical energy supply is maintained. In an effort to improve the reliability of electric power supply, the company developed an integrated electrical system with the 150 kV PLN network. With this new integration, it is necessary to regulate the coordination of the overcurrent protection relays in order to work optimally. In this final project, the numerical computation method will be used as an automation method in the protection relay settings. This method aims to simplify and shorten the processing time of the inverse overcurrent relay setting in the radial electrical system. The results are Time Dial Setting (TDS) and Time-Current Characteristic Curve (TCC). Previously, the protection coordination in the electrical system of PT. Pertamina RU V Balikpapan has been evaluated by considering the integration of the 150 kV PLN. In addition, research using the adaptive modified firefly algorithm method has also been carried out on this newly integrated system
