03211840000065 Industri penyamakan kulit merupakan salah satu industri di Indonesia yang mengalami peningkatan cukup pesat dan keberadaannya didominasi wilayah Magetan, Garut, dan Yogyakarta. Air limbah penyamakan kulit mengandung polutan organik dan kimia dengan kuantitas besar, serta termasuk limbah berbahaya dan beracun. Sebagian besar air limbah industri kecil penyamakan kulit belum dilakukan pengolahan dan langsung dibuang ke badan air. Adapun industri penyamakan lainnya yang telah memiliki Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah (IPAL), namun terdapat kualitas efluen air limbah yang masih tinggi dan melebihi baku mutu. Berdasarkan permasalahan yang ada, diperlukan kajian pustaka mengenai teknologi pengolahan yang tepat dalam mengolah air limbah penyamakan kulit. Pencarian pustaka studi ini menggunakan berbagai software, diantaranya publish or perish, google scholar, science direct, research gate, maupun mendeley. Adapun sumber pustaka lainnya, meliputi prosiding ilmiah, buku teks, laporan penelitian, skripsi, tesis, maupun disertasi. Dalam mendukung pembahasan mengenai penentuan teknologi pengolahan, diperlukan analisis karakteristik air limbah dari beberapa industri penyamakan kulit berdasarkan klasifikasi skala industri, kemudahan operasional, dan biaya investasi. Analisis data dan pembahasan akan menghasilkan kesimpulan yang menjawab dari rumusan masalah dan sesuai dengan tujuan studi. Karakteristik air limbah penyamakan kulit dikelompokkan dalam tiga skala industri, diantaranya industri skala kecil, besar, dan klaster. Studi kasus yang digunakan dalam studi ini, yaitu industri skala kecil Kamila Leather, skala besar PT. Adi Satri Abadi, dan skala klaster LIK Magetan. Debit yang dihasilkan dari ketiga industri memiliki nilai beragam, diantaranya industri kecil sebesar 3 m3/hari, industri besar sebesar 61,83 m3/hari, dan industri klaster sebesar 594,4 m3/hari. Terdapat sepuluh teknologi pengolahan yang telah digunakan pada industri penyamakan kulit, salah satunya Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) yang paling banyak digunakan. Dari hasil analisis perbandingan teknologi pengolahan, didapatkan rekomendasi teknologi pengolahan yang tepat untuk ketiga skala industri, diantaranya industri kecil menggunakan unit adsorpsi, industri besar menggunakan tambahan unit wetland, dan industri klaster menggunakan tambahan unit adsorpsi

The leather tanning industry is one of the industries in Indonesia that has grown quite rapidly and has spread to various regions. The existence of the leather tanning industry is dominated in the areas of Magetan, Garut, and Yogyakarta. Wastewater generated from the leather tanning industry contains large quantities of organic and chemical pollutants, and is classified as hazardous and toxic waste. Most of the wastewater from the small leather tanning industry has not been treated and is directly discharged into water bodies due to the absence of a treatment technology. As for other tanning industries that already have a Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP), however the quality of the wastewater effluent is still high and exceeds the quality standard. Based on the existing problems of the tannery industry, a literature review is needed regarding the appropriate treatment technology in treating tannery wastewater. The literature search in this study used various software, including publish or perish, google scholar, science direct, research gate, and mendeley. Other library sources used include scientific proceedings, textbooks, research reports, theses, theses, and dissertations. In supporting the discussion regarding the determination of treatment technology, it is necessary to analyze the quality and quantity of wastewater from several leather tanning industries. Then, a comparative analysis of treatment technology is carried out based on the characteristics of wastewater, industrial scale classification, operational ease, and investment costs. Data analysis and discussion of literature sources will produce conclusions that answer the problem formulation and are in accordance with the study objectives. The characteristics of the leather tanning industry wastewater are grouped into three industrial scales, including small, large, and cluster industries. The case study used in this study, namely Kamila Leather for small-scale industry, PT. Adi Satri Abadi for large-scale industries, and Lingkungan Industri Kulit (LIK) Magetan for cluster-scale industries. The discharge values generated from the three industries have various values, including small industries of 3 m3/day, large industries of 61.83 m3/day, and cluster industries of 594.4 m3/day. There are ten processing technologies that have been used in the leather tanning industry, one of which is Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) which are the most widely used. From the results of the comparison analysis of processing technology, it was found that the appropriate treatment technology recommendations for the three industrial scales, including small industries using adsorption, large industries using additional wetland, and cluster industries using additional adsorption.
