Abstract

PT. Pertamina RU V Balikpapan merupakan salah satu perusahaan yang bergerak dibidang pengolahan minyak dan gas bumi di Indonesia. Produk-produk yang dihasilkan berupa BBM, Non BBM, dan LPG. Dalam proses produksinya PT. Pertamina RU V Balikpapan bekerja sama dengan PLN dalam rangka menciptakan sistem kelistrikan yang andal. Sehingga untuk menjaga hal tersebut, maka dibutuhkan rele proteksi yang terkoordinasi oleh gangguan yang ada. Namun, apabila rele proteksi tidak terkoordinasi sebagaimana mestinya, bisa berdampak pada menurunnya keandalan dan terganggunya kontinuitas daya listrik. Salah satu gangguan yang timbul berupa arc flash. Peristiwa arc flash merupakan pelepasan suatu energi panas yang sangat tinggi karena adanya arc fault ataupun bolted fault. Terjadinya peristiwa arc flash dapat menyebabkan kerusakan pada peralatan dan bisa membahayakan para pekerja dalam pabrik. Sehingga diperlukannya penyempurnaan sistem koordinasi proteksi dengan memperhitungkan arc flash guna mencari incident energy sesuai dengan standar yang diizinkan. Oleh karena itu, dalam tugas akhir ini akan dilakukan analisis terlebih dahulu terhadap kondisi existing pada sistem koordinasi proteksinya. Kemudian dilakukan pengecekan dengan memperhitungkan arc flash dengan hasil berupa incident energy. Jika masih terdapat nilai incident energy yang besar maka akan dilakukan evaluasi terhadap sistem agar nilainya mengecil. Standar yang akan digunakan dalam perhitungan tersebut adalah standar IEEE 1584-2002. Setelah melakukan perhitungan, maka dapat dikelompokkan berdasarkan kategori bahayanya. Sehingga nanti dapat ditentukan jarak flash protection boundary dan merekomendasi personal protective equipment (PPE) bagi pekerja berdasarkan standar NFPA 70E. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi, nilai incident energy mengalami penurunan. Dikarenakan koordinasi proteksinya sudah disesuaikan dengan standar dan faktor dari waktu buka rele hingga circuit breaker terbuka

PT. Pertamina RU V Balikpapan is one of the companies engaged in oil and gas processing in Indonesia. The products produced are in the form of fuel, non-fuel, and LPG. In the production process, PT. Pertamina RU V Balikpapan cooperates with PLN in order to create a reliable electricity system. So to maintain this, a coordinated protection relay is needed by existing disturbances. However, if protection is not properly coordinated, it can have an impact on decreasing and disrupting continuity. One of the disturbances that arise is in the form of arc flash. An arc flash event is a discovery of very high heat energy due to an arc fault or bolted fault. The event of an arc flash can cause damage to equipment and may endanger the lives of workers in the factory. So it is necessary to improve the protection coordination system with estimates to find incident energy in accordance with permitted standards. Therefore, in this final project, an analysis will be carried out in advance of the existing conditions in the protection coordination system. Then it is checked by considering the arc flash with the result in the form of incident energy. If there is still a large energy value, an evaluation of the system will be carried out so that the value decreases. The standard that will be used in the calculation is the IEEE 1584-2002 standard. After doing the calculations, it can be based on the hazard category. So that later we can determine the distance of the flash protection boundary and recommend personal protective equipment (PPE) for workers based on the NFPA 70E standard. Based on the evaluation results, the incident energy value has decreased. Because the protection coordination has been adjusted to the standards and factors from the relay opening time to the circuit breaker opening
