Abstract

The city of Surabaya has 35 waste treatment sites spread across the city. Jambangan recycling center and Wonorejo compost house are examples of waste treatment sites located in Surabaya that manage food waste from various sources. Food waste that enter the two treatment sites are treated using a composting process and BSF maggot cultivation. This study aims to produce data on the quantity and composition of incoming food waste, the amount of reduction that occurs, and the residue produced by the waste treatment sites by using the material analysis model. In this study, field observations, interviews with workers, and sampling were carried out. Sampling was carried out to calculate the mass of solid waste by measuring according to SNI 19-3964-1994 for 8 consecutive days. The depiction of the flow of solid waste material was obtained from the incoming solid waste as a result of waste collector until the resulting product. The MFA boundaries for describing the flow of food waste materials include Jambangan recycling center and Wonorejo compost house. This study shows that the existing reduction rate that occurred in the Jambangan recycling center for the composting process and BSF maggot cultivation are 68.33% and 84.63%, respectively. Meanwhile, the existing reduction rate that occurred at the Wonorejo compost house for the composting process and BSF maggot cultivation are 95.66% and 57.88%, respectively. In general the two waste treatment sites are able to reduce 94.72% of the total food waste entering the two waste treatment sites and 0.62% of the total food waste in Surabaya. The Material Flow Analysis model shows that the incoming input comes from the transportation of waste from each source for both waste treatment sites. The process that occur include sorting process, waste shredder, and waste sieving. The compost product, water loss in composting process, larvae harvest, mass loss through metabolism in BSF maggot cutivation process, and residue are the output of the material flow analysis model.

Kota Surabaya memiliki 35 tempat pengolahan sampah yang tersebar di seluruh kota. Pusat daur ulang Jambangan dan rumah kompos Wonorejo adalah contoh tempat pengelolaan sampah yang terletak di Surabaya yang mengelola sampah makanan dari berbagai sumber. Sampah makanan yang masuk ke dua lokasi pengelolaan sampah diolah menggunakan proses pengomposan dan budidaya maggot BSF. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan data jumlah dan komposisi sampah makanan yang masuk, jumlah pengurangan yang terjadi, dan residu yang dihasilkan oleh tempat pengolahan limbah dengan menggunakan model aliran analisis material. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan observasi lapangan, wawancara dengan pekerja, dan pengambilan sampel. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan untuk menghitung massa sampah dengan cara mengukur sesuai SNI 19-3964-1994 selama 8 hari berturut-turut. Gambaran aliran material sampah diperoleh dari sampah yang masuk sebagai hasil pengepul sampah hingga menjadi produk yang dihasilkan. Batas MFA untuk menggambarkan alur sampah makanan meliputi pusat daur ulang Jambangan dan rumah kompos Wonorejo. Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa tingkat penurunan eksisting yang terjadi di pusat daur ulang Jambangan untuk proses pengomposan dan budidaya maggot BSF masing-68,33% dan 84,63%. Sementara itu, tingkat penurunan eksisting yang terjadi di rumah kompos Wonorejo untuk proses pengomposan dan budidaya maggot BSF masing-masing sebesar 95,66% dan 57,88%. Secara umum kedua tempat pengolahan sampah tersebut mampu mereduksi 94,72% dari total sampah makanan yang masuk ke kedua tempat pengelolaan sampah tersebut dan 0,62% dari total sampah makanan di Surabaya. Model aliran material menunjukkan bahwa input yang masuk berasal dari pengangkutan sampah dari masing-masing sumber untuk kedua tempat pengolahan sampah. Proses yang terjadi meliputi proses pemilahan, pencacahan sampah, dan pengayakan sampah. Produk kompos, kehilangan air dalam proses pengomposan, pemanenan larva, kehilangan massa melalui metabolisme dalam proses
budidaya maggot BSF, dan residu merupakan keluaran dari model analisis aliran material.
