Abstract

Tandan kosong kelapa sawit (TKKS) merupakan salah satu jenis limbah padat yang paling banyak dihasilkan oleh pabrik kelapa sawit. Salah satu upaya pengelolaan limbah TKKS melalui aplikasi mulsa. Aplikasi mulsa merupakan salah satu upaya menekan pertumbuhan gulma, memodifikasi keseimbangan air, suhu dan kelembaban tanah serta menciptakan kondisi yang sesuai bagi tanaman, sehingga tanaman dapat tumbuh dan berkembang dengan baik. PT X yang berlokasi di Papua Barat menghasilkan TKKS sebesar 1.721.473,59 kg/bulan. Dalam penelitian ini upaya perusahaan dalam mengelola limbah TKKS dengan memanfaatkan sebagai mulsa perlu dikaji kelayakannya berdasarkan aspek bahan baku, aspek lingkungan, dan aspek ekonomi. Analisis kelayakan kegiatan pemanfaatan TKKS menjadi mulsa dilakukan menggunakan metode Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) untuk memperkirakan potensi dampak yang dihasilkan serta menganalisis kelayakan aplikasi mulsa menggunakan pendekatan sistem dinamis. Penelitian ini juga akan menganalisis dampak lingkungan meliputi global warming potential, photochemical oxidation, eutrophication, dan acidification. Hasil analisis Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pemanfaatan TKKS menjadi mulsa pada musim kemarau memberikan kontribusi dampak global warming potential sebesar 1,3181 kg CO2 eq, dampak photochemical oxidation sebesar 0,0003 kg C2H4 eq, dampak eutrophication sebesar 0,0033 kg PO4 eq, dan dampak acidification sebesar 0,01504 kg SO2 eq. Unit loading ramp merupakan kegiatan yang memberikan kontribusi dampak paling tinggi. Sedangkan pada musim hujan kegiatan pemanfaatan TKKS menjadi mulsa pada memberikan kontribusi dampak global warming potential sebesar 1,0066 kg CO2 eq dan dampak photochemical oxidation sebesar 0.0002 kg C2H4 eq. Pada musim hujan kegiatan yang memberikan dampak lingkungan paling tinggi pada unit loading ramp. Analisis kelayakan dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan sistem dimanis, menyimpulkan bahwa ketersediaan tandan kosong linier dengan produktivitas tandan buah segar (buah sawit). Ketersediaan bahan baku (TKKS) belum mencukupi kebutuhan nutrisi tanaman pada area tanam. Hasil simulasi pada menunjukkan emisi yang dihasilkan pada kegiatan aplikasi mulsa tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan. Selain itu dari aspek ekonomi berdasarkan hasil simulasi model penggunaan mulsa dapat menekan biaya penggunaan pupuk anorganik, namun penggunaan mulsa tidak dapat menghemat biaya operasional kegiatan aplikasi mulsa.

Oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFB) is one of the most common types of solid waste produced by palm oil mills. Management effort of empty fruit bunches through mulch application. The application of mulch is an effort to suppress weed growth, modify the water balance, temperature and soil moisture and create suitable conditions for plants, so that plants can grow and develop properly. PT X which is located in West Papua produces EFB of 1,721,473.59 kg/month. In study this effort company in manage empty fruit bunches with utilise as mulch need studied eligibility based on aspect ingredients raw, aspect environment and aspects economy. Analysis appropriateness activity utilization of EFB mulch conducted use Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method to estimate the resulting potential impacts as well analyze appropriateness application mulch use approach system dynamic. Study this too will analyze impact environment covers global warming potential, photochemical oxidation, eutrophication, and acidification. Analysis results Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) show that activity utilization of EFB mulch in season drought give contribution global warming potential impact of 1.3181 kg CO2 eq, photochemical oxidation impact of 0.0003 kg C2H4 eq, eutrophication impact of 0.0033 kg PO4 eq, and impact acidification as big 0.01504 kg SO2 eq. Loading ramp units is giving activity contribution impact highest. Meanwhile in season rain activity utilization of EFB mulch on give contribution global warming potential impact of 1.0066 kg CO2 eq and photochemical oxidation impact of 0.0002 kg C2H4 eq. In rainy season giving activity impact the highest environment on the loading ramp unit. Analysis appropriateness conducted use approach system sweet, concluded that availability of linear empty bunches with productivity of fresh fruit bunches (fruit palm). Availability ingredients standard (EFB) not yet sufficient need nutrition plants in the planting area. The simulation results show emissions generated in activities _ application mulch no influential in a manner significant. Besides that from aspect economy based on results usage model simulation mulch could push cost use fertilizer inorganic, however use mulch no could save cost operational activity application mulch.
