Abstract

Spatial and temporal information on fishery resources can optimize coral reef management and increase economic benefits for managers and communities around the coast of Pasir Putih Situbondo. The Coral Health Index (CHI) is an assessment method of the health condition of coral reefs, while the Resilience Index (RI) is an assessment method of the ability of coral reefs to survive and recover from disturbances. The assesment of CHI and RI refer to conditions of biotic and abiotic cover using the Line Intercept Transect (LIT) method, while for fishery resources using the Underwater Visual Census (UVC) method and fishing methods with gill nets. The results showed that the highest percentage of biotic cover was dominated by live hard corals (LC), macroalgae (MC) and other invertebrates (OT), while abiotic cover was dominated by sand (S) and rocks (RCK). As a result, 79 species of reef fish were identified using the UVC method with fish biomass ranging from 1510.1 kg/ha – 14248.23 kg/ha and 4 types of fish caught by fishermen were identified using the gill net method with a CPUe value of 2.2 kg/ trip. The analysis of the health and resilience of coral reefs, it shows that the condition of coral reef health (CHI) is very good (4.46) and the condition of resilience (RI) is sufficient (0.51) I. The correlation analysis shows that there is no strong correlation (R = 0 ,33) between the condition of coral reefs (percentage of live coral cover) and fishery resources based on the biomass and abundance of the target fish.
