Abstract

Selulosa merupakan salah satu komponen utama penyusun tumbuhan, dimana, tergantung dari jenis tumbuhan tersebut, kandungan selulosa bisa mencapai 98%. Selulosa memiliki kegunaan yang luas, seperti industri makanan, farmasi, pulp dan kertas dan industry kimia. Untuk memisahkan selulosa dari biomassa, maka perlu dilakukan perlakuan awal. Perlakuan awal yang digunakan dalam pabrik ini adalah steam explosion atau ledakan uap. Perlakuan awal ini dipilih karena bersifat ramah lingkungan, konsumsi energi yang rendah, dan investasi yang rendah. Pada perlakuan ini, steam akan dimasukkan ke reactor yang terdapat jerami padi hinggaa mencapai tekana 15 bar. Kemudian, setelah didiamkan selama 5 menit, tekanan diturunkan secara tiba – tiba sehingga terjadi ledakan steam yang menyebabkan rusaknya struktur kristain selulosa. Setelah itu, proses dilanjutkan ke proses utama seperti pencucian dan ekstraksi dan dilanjutkan dengan alcohol recovery. Setelah mempertimbangkan banyak faktor, pabrik akan dibangun di kawasan industry JIIPE (Java Integrated Industrial and Ports Estate) dengan kapasitas 370.000 ton/tahun. Berdasarkan analisa ekonomi, pabrik ini memiliki IRR sebesat 35,17% dan POT 3,98 tahun. Sehingga pabrik ini layak untuk dibangun.

Cellulose is one of the main constituent components of plants, depending on the plants, the cellulose content can be up to 98%. Cellulose has a wide range of use. It can be used in food industry, pharmacy, paper, and chemical industry. To extract the cellulose from biomass, the biomass needs to undergo a pre-treatment. In this study uses steam explosion pre-treatment as it doesn’t cause hazards to the environment, has low energy cost, and low investment cost. In this pre-treatment, steam will be injected to the biomass until 15 bar, then decline rapidly to make an explosion that causes damage to cellulose crystalline. After that, the process continues to the main process and alcohol recovery. After considering many factors, a cellulose plant from rice straw will be built in 2023 in industrial parks Java Integrated Industrial and Ports Estate or known as JIIPE with a capacity of 370,000 tons/ year. Based on economic analysis, this plant has an internal rate return of 35.17% and a payout time of 3.98 years. This makes this plant feasible to build.
