Abstract

Pertumbuhan industri logam selalu meningkat setiap tahunnya. Berdasarkan PODES (2018), pada tahun 2014-2018 tercatat pelaku UMK logam di Indonesia mengalami peningkatan sebanyak 1397 unit. Pertumbuhan ini didominasi beberapa sektor antara lain kerajinan, perhiasan, higga peralatan rumah tangga. Hingga tahun 2021 Industri logam tumbuh sebesar 3,54% (Kementrian Perindustrian Republik Indonesia 2021). Peningkatan ini juga sejalan dengan tingginya permintaan manufaktur logam di Indonesia. Dilihat dari tingginya pertumbuhan industri logam terdapat potensi dari ketersediaan limbah drum bekas. Mengingat harga limbah drum yang lebih terjangkau dibandingkan dengan material baru. Ketersediaan bahan baku yang melimpah dan sayang jika dibuang melihat tingginya pelaku usaha logam di Indonesia. Dengan menggunakan teknik pengolahan metal sheet metal forming agar dapat memanfaatkan material limbah drum menjadi produk dengan daya jual yang tinggi. Peluang dalam pemanfaatan material limbah terbilang cukup tinggi dimana sejalan dengan konsep circular economy agar material ini dapat menjadi material berkelanjutan yang turut membantu dalam menjaga lingkungan. Dibutuhkan beberapa penelitian dan eksperime untuk mengetahui sifat dan perlakuan yang tepat dalam pengolahan material limbah drum dan mendapatkan hasil yang optimal. Pada akhir penelitian didapati jenis produk yang didesain yaitu: lampu dinding, lampu meja, dan lampu gantung.

The growth of the metal industry always increases every year. Based on PODES (2018), in 2014-2018 it was recorded that metal MSEs in Indonesia had increased by 1397 units. This growth was dominated by several sectors, including crafts, jewelry, and household appliances. Until 2021 the metal industry grew by 3.54% (Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia 2021). This increase is also in line with the high demand for metal manufacturing in Indonesia. Judging from the high growth of the metal industry, there is potential for the availability of used drum waste. Given the price of drum waste which is more affordable than new material. The availability of raw materials is abundant and it would be a shame to throw them away given the high number of metal business actors in Indonesia. By using metal sheet metal forming processing techniques in order to be able to utilize drum waste material into products with high selling power. Opportunities in the utilization of waste materials are quite high which is in line with the circular economy concept so that these materials can become sustainable materials that help protect the environment. Some research and experiments are needed to determine the nature and proper treatment in drum waste material processing and obtain optimal results.
