Abstract

Saat ini pengguna internet dalam mengakses website untuk memperoleh informasi semakin meningkat. Namun, tidak semua website memiliki tampilan dan kualitas yang mudah dan cepat dipahami oleh pengguna internet. Oleh karena itu, penerapan usability memiliki peranan penting untuk mengetahui suatu website dapat di akses dengan mudah, layak, dan efektif. Dalam lingkup ITS, masih ada beberapa website yang belum memenuhi aspek usability, salah satunya ialah website UPT Bahasa dan Budaya ITS yang diperoleh dari hasil wawancara kepada beberapa mahasiswa ITS. Untuk memperkuat hal tersebut, penulis melakukan survei pendahuluan terkait keluhan dan hambatan saat mengakses website UPT Bahasa dan Budaya ITS kepada mahasiswa ITS jenjang S1 dan S2/S3 dari berbagai departemen yang berbeda. Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah melakukan evaluasi usabilitas website UPT Bahasa dan Budaya ITS dengan memperhatikan aspek desain user interface dan user experience website UPT Bahasa dan Budaya ITS serta merancang desain perbaikannya. Evaluasi usability tersebut dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat eye tracker. Selain itu, evaluasi dari responden juga diperoleh dengan Retrospective Think Aloud (RTA) dan System Usability Scale (SUS). Penelitian dilakukan kepada 30 mahasiswa aktif ITS jenjang S1 dan S2/S3 dari berbagai departemen yang berbeda. Dari penelitian dengan desain website eksisting menggunakan eye tracking dan RTA, diperoleh beberapa permasalahan dari responden. Hal ini juga ditunjang dengan hasil rata-rata skor SUS desain website eksisting berada di kategori poor (not acceptance), sehingga diperlukan perancangan perbaikan website. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menggunakan desain perbaikan website, diperoleh bahwa perubahan desain website memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap completion time, error rate, time to first fixation, fixation duration, dan skor SUS. Di sisi lain, setelah dilakukan perancangan perbaikan desain website dapat menghasilkan rata-rata skor SUS berada di kategori excellent (acceptance). Hasil pengujian dan perbaikan desain website tersebut diharapkan dapat menjadi bahan pertimbangan pihak pengembang untuk dapat meningkatkan efektivitas, efisiensi, dan kepuasan pengguna agar lebih mudah digunakan mahasiswa ITS.

Nowadays, internet users accessing website to obtain information is increasing. However, not all websites have a look and quality that is easy and accessible to internet users. Therefore, the application of usability has an important role in knowing that a website can be accessed easily, feasible, and effectively. Within the scope of ITS, there are still several websites that do not meet the usability aspect, one of which is the Center for Language and Culture ITS website which was obtained from the results of interviews with several ITS students. To strengthen this, the authors conducted a preliminary survey related to complaints and obstacles when accessing the Center for Language and Culture ITS website to ITS students at S1 and S2/S3 levels from various departments. The purpose of this research is to evaluate usability from the aspect of user interface design and user experience of the Center for Language and Culture ITS website and to design the improvements. The usability evaluation is carried out using an eye tracker tool. In addition, evaluations from respondents were also obtained using Retrospective Think Aloud (RTA) and System Usability Scale (SUS). The research was conducted on 30 ITS students at S1 and S2/S3 levels from various departments. From research with existing website designs using eye tracking and RTA, several problems were obtained from respondents. This is also supported by the results of the average SUS score of the existing website design being in the poor category (not acceptance), so that a website improvement design is needed. Based on the results of research using website improvement designs, it was found that website design changes had a significant effect on completion time, error rate, time to first fixation, fixation duration, and SUS scores. On the other hand, after designing the website design improvements, the average SUS score is in the excellent category (acceptance). The results of testing and improving the website design are expected to be taken into consideration by the developer to increase effectiveness, efficiency, and user satisfaction so that it is easier for ITS students to use.
