Abstract

Produk atau jasa yang berkualitas merupakan karakteristik produk atau jasa yang dapat memberikan kepuasan kebutuhan terhadap konsumen. Permasalahan yang paling sering dihadapi oleh perusahaan manufaktur adalah bagaimana memberikan produk dengan kualitas yang baik dengan biaya produksi yang rendah. PT. Pindad sesuai dengan visi misinya selain melaksanakan usaha terpadu di bidang peralatan pertahanan dan keamanan, juga melakukan pada bidang industrial, misalnya memproduksi tabung gas 50 kg milik PT. Pertamina. Mengambil studi kasus mengenai kualitas tabung gas 50 kg milik PT. Pertamina, didapatkan data defect tertinggi yang ditemukan pada proses produksi tabung gas 50 kg adalah kebocoran tabung yang disebabkan oleh proses pengelasan dengan presentase 59% dari total defect pada produk tabung gas 50 kg, yang kedua adalah defect hasil visual yang disebabkan oleh pengelasan tabung memiliki proporsi sebesar 20% dari total defect, dan sisanya seperti defect pada visual cat, kerusakan neckring, dan tabung melengkung dengan total persentase sebesar 21%. Hasil defect tersebut menjadikan proses produksi dinilai belum efisien, karena dapat berdampak pada biaya produksi. Untuk itu dalam menentukan root cause, dilakukan improvement dengan metode six sigma (DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control)). Hasil analisis terhadap faktor defect pada tabung yang berpengaruh signifikan berada proses pengelasan material tabung gas 50 kg. Terdapat empat critical factor diantaranya setting mesin, kebersihan material untuk pengelasan, kebersihan pasir untuk pengelasan, dan metode inspeksi. Untuk menurunkan defect tersebut, dilakukan perbaikan dengan melakukan perubahan setting mesin pengelasan yang sesuai dengan material yang digunakan, melakukan pembersihan material sebelum dilakukan pengelasan, melakukan pembersihan fluks / pasir sebelum dilakukan pengelasan, dan autocontrol oleh operator pengelasan di produksi sesuai dengan SOP yang baru. Hasil improvement yang telah dilakukan didapatkan peningkatan level sigma yang semula 2,616 menjadi 2,965 dan cost saving yang dihasilkan dengan melakukan improvement selama periode 3 bulan sebesar Rp. 75,433,209.328,-.

The problem that is most often faced by manufacturers is how to provide products with good quality at low production costs. PT. Pindad, in accordance with its vision and mission, in addition to carry out an integrated business in the field of defense and security equipment as well in the industrial sector, produces 50 kg gas cylinder of PT. Pertamina. Pointing out a case study on the quality of PT. Pertamina’s 50 kg gas cylinder, most defects found in the 50 kg gas cylinder production process are caused by the welding process which has the highest percentage, which is 59% of the total defects in 50 kg gas cylinder products, the second is visual defects caused by tube welding that has a proportion of 20% of the total defects, and the rest are defects found in visual paint, neckring damage, and curved tubes with a total percentage of 21%. Those defects indicate the production process is considered inefficient, because it can have an impact on production costs. For this reason, in determining the root cause, improvements are made with the six sigma method (DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control)). The results of the analysis of defect factors in the tubes that have a significant effect is the welding process of 50 kg gas cylinder material. There are four critical factors including machine settings, material cleanliness for welding, cleanliness of flux / sand for welding, and inspection methods. To reduce the defect, repairs are carried out by changing the welding machine settings according to the material used, cleaning the material before welding, cleaning the sand before welding, and autocontrol by the welding operator in production in accordance with the new SOP. The improvements that have been made has resulted an increase in the sigma level from 2,616 to 2,965 and the cost savings generated by making improvements over a 3-month period is Rp. 75,433,209.328,-.
