Abstract

PT XYZ is a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company that creates more than a thousand promotions every month to maximize sales and maintain competitiveness among its competitors. However, the process of making these promotions is considered ineffective and inefficient because it still involves lots of repetitive and manual processes that cause excessive daily workload to its workers. Technological advancement, with the existence of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Excel macro, opens opportunities to overcome this problem through automation. To be able to implement this technology, reengineering of existing business process is required. This research is conducted with the aims of developing a new business process that can improve efficiency and effectiveness in promo creation at PT XYZ by involving the role of RPA and Excel macro and to ensure that the new business process is able to answer the series of objectives to be achieved. These objectives include reducing repetitive and manual data entry activities, reducing daily workload that must be carried out by workers, and ensuring data synchronization between platforms. Business Process Reengineering (BPR) Consolidated Methodology is chosen with Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) and Discrete-Event Simulation (DES) methods to map and evaluate the business process. Based on the results of this research, the presence of RPA and Excel macro is able to reduce repetitive and manual data entry activities while creating cross-platform data synchronization along with reducing the probability of human error. In addition, the simulation results show a reduction in the daily workload of Promo Planner and Encoder (worker teams) by 20.6% and 20.64%, respectively.
