Abstract

Food waste merupakan sampah makanan yang berasal dari makanan layak konsumsi yang dibuang begitu saja. Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara dengan penghasil sampah makanan terbesar. Penyebab utama dari food waste adalah kelebihan porsi makanan dan perilaku. Salah satu pelaku food waste adalah anak-anak, menurut depth interview kepada Garda Pangan dan dosen teknik lingkungan ITS anak-anak memiliki peranan yang sangat penting yaitu merupakan agent of change, generasi masa depan, dan memiliki pengaruh dalam memberitahu orang tuanya, serta merupakan salah satu pelaku food waste dirumah, sehingga diperlukan edukasi kepada anak mengenai fenomena food waste, dampaknya dan cara pencegahannya. Metode pada perancangan ini adalah metode design thinking,studi literatur, studi eksisting, depth interview kepada 4 narasumber ahli dengan diikuti studi eksperimental sebanyak 4 kali, dan melakukan Pre Test kepada target mengenai draft desain dan script cerita. Setelah motion comic jadi dilakukan post test pada target. Post test dilakukan guna mengetahui tingkat kesadaran dan pengetahuan anak terhadap fenomena food waste setelah melihat perancangan motion comic, serta mengetahui keberhasilan dan pengaruh perancangan ini dalam meningkatkan awareness anak terhadap sampah makanan dan kepedulian terhadap makanan. Anak 9-12 tahun memiliki ketertarikan terhadap visual dan gambar. Edukasi akan lebih mudah tersampaikan dengan media yang mengikutsertakan indera penglihatan serta pendengaran. Motion comic dipilih karena memiliki urutan panel yang bertahap dan menurut pada para ahli seperti Garda Pangan, psikolog anak, dosen teknik lingkungan ITS, ahli komik dan animasi serta pre test kepada target menghasilkan bahwa motion comic merupakan media yang berpotensi dan menarik untuk edukasi. Perancangan motion comic Tapak Sena sangat bermanfaat dan berhasil dalam memberikan edukasi kepada anak yang dibuktikan dengan post test, semua anak dapat memahami pesan dan cerita yang disampaikan di motion comic Tapak Sena dengan baik, dapat menyimpulkan makna dari food waste, dampak, dan bagaimana cara mengatasinya dengan benar dan dengan bahasanya sendiri. Dari segi desain dan gerakan semua anak memberi skala 5 yang berarti sangat bagus dan sangat menarik.

Food waste is food that is produced for human consumption but thrown away. Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest food waste producer. The leading causes of food waste are the food portion sizes being too large and consumer behavior. Children's eating behaviors and preferences also cause food waste. According to in-depth interviews with Garda Pangan and ITS environmental engineering lecturers, children have a significant role.They are agents of change, future generations, have influence in informing their parents, and children also show the behavior of wasting food, so education is needed for children about the phenomenon of food waste, its impact, and how to prevent it. The methods in this motion comic are the design thinking method, literature studies, existing studies, in-depth interviews with four expert sources followed by four experimental studies, and pre-testing of the target regarding draft designs and story scripts. After the motion comic is finished, a post test is carried out on the target. The post test was conducted to determine the level of awareness and knowledge of children on the phenomenon of food waste after seeing the motion comic design, as well as knowing the success and influence of this design in increasing children's awareness of food waste and concern for food. Children aged 9-12 years are interested in visuals and pictures, and education will be more easily conveyed with media that includes the senses of sight and hearing. Motion comics were chosen because they have a gradual panel order, and according to experts such as Garda Pangan, child psychologists, ITS environmental engineering lecturers, comics and animation experts, and pre-test to the target show that motion comics are potential and interesting media for education. The design of the Tapak Sena motion comic is very useful and successful in providing education to children, as evidenced according to the post test. All children can understand the messages and stories conveyed in the Tapak Sena motion comic well and can deduce the meaning of food waste, its impact, and how to address it adequately. In design and movement, all children gave a scale of 5, which is very good and interesting.
