Abstract

Tahapan perancangan RCM meliputi tujuh tahapan analisa yaitu : System selection and data collection, Definition of System boundary, System description and functional block, System function functional failure, Failure Mode Effect and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Classification of maintenance tasks based on the RCM analysis, and Maintenance cost calculations.

The application of Slow Steaming is currently being carried out continuously due to changes of regulation of IMO Global Sulfur Cap 0.5%, where the high sulfur fuel (2.5% - 3.5%) wasn’t allowed since January 1st 2020. The low sulfur fuel (max. 0.5%) presently is more expensive in the global market, hence all the Shipping Companies run their ships more efficiently and make a lot of improvements to their operating patterns and maintenance of the ship's machinery. This research was conducted on container ship with 2 stroke engine as main propulsion with power 19,810 kW where operated in slow steaming with continuously, slow steaming is running engine with low loads, where less than 40% load. Base on data damaged report which reported since January 2020 to December 2020 shows a significant indication of the slow steaming effect, especially the components in the combustion area. Slow steaming has several negative effects for the continuation of the maintenance period of several engine components and the proper maintenance methods are needed to reduce the downtime. In this Thesis the proper maintenance methode is obtained by using Realibility Centered Maintenance (RCM). RCM design stages consist of seven steps’s of analysis such ; System selection and data collection, Definition of System boundary, System description and functional block, System function functional failure, Failure Mode Effect and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Classification of maintenance tasks based on the RCM analysis, and Maintenance Cost Calculations. Finally, the right RCM decision can be obtained to design budget of Vessel Operational Expenses (VOE) and prepare critical spare parts, and expected to reduce vessel offhire due to un-plan maintenance
