Abstract

Kota Surabaya memiliki jumlah pemeluk Islam sebanyak delapan puluh lima persen dari total jumlah penduduknya. Dalam penyebarannya di Surabaya, Islam memiliki sejarah tersendiri yang perlu dilestarikan keberadaan informasinya. Namun, keterbatasan media tertulis dan informasi menjadi permasalahan dalam pelestarian informasi sejarah Islam di Surabaya. Hal ini menyebabkan rendahnya kesadaran sejarah masyarakat akan hal tersebut serta dikhawatirkan akan hilang seiring berjalannya waktu. Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut, tujuan dari perancangan ini adalah menghasilkan media yang dapat mendokumentasikan sejarah Islam di kota Surabaya dan meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat akan sejarah Islam d Surabaya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Sebelum membuat prototype, proses pengumpulan data terlebih dahulu dilakukan melalui studi pustaka dan depth interview kepada para sejarawan. Data yang telah didapatkan kemudian diolah dan disajikan menggunakan Teknik Miles dan Huberman. Dari hasil pengolahan data tersebut kemudian dapat dijadikan sebagai isi konten untuk pembuatan prototype buku visual. Tahap selanjutnya adalah melakukan user testing kepada target audience yang telah ditentukan. Melalui masukan mereka, kemudian dilakukan proses penyempurnaan untuk menghasilkan luaran akhir. Luaran akhir perancangan ini adalah buku visual berbentuk cetak berisi 10 bab yang terdiri dari dua bab yang membahas sejarah kota Surabaya dan awal kedatangan Islam di Surabaya. Sedangkan delapan bab berikutnya membahas tokoh yang berperan dalam dakwah Islam di Surabaya dan situs bersejarah yang terkait dengan tokoh tersebut. Selain itu, buku visual tersebut akan di dukung dengan ilustrasi digital dengan gaya realis dan elemen interaktif berupa QR code yang mengajak pembaca berinteraksi dengan buku.

The city of Surabaya has eighty-five percent of the total population of Muslims. In its spread in Surabaya, Islam has its own history that needs to be preserved where the information exists. However, limited written media and information are a problem in preserving Islamic history information in Surabaya. This has led to low historical awareness of the community about this and fears that it will disappear over time. Based on this background, the purpose of this design is to produce media that can document Islamic history in the city of Surabaya and increase public awareness of Islamic history in Surabaya. The research method used in this study uses qualitative methods. Before making a prototype, the data collection process was first carried out through literature studies and in-depth interviews with historians. The data that has been obtained is then processed and presented using the Miles and Huberman technique. From the results of data processing, it can then be used as content for making visual book prototypes. The next stage is to do user testing on a predetermined target audience. Through their input, an improvement process is then carried out to produce the final output. The final output of this design is a printed visual book containing 10 chapters consisting of two chapters that discuss the history of the city of Surabaya and the early arrival of Islam in Surabaya. While the next eight chapters discuss the figures who played a role in the propagation of Islam in Surabaya and the historical sites associated with these figures. In addition, the visual book will be supported by digital
illustrations in a realistic style and interactive elements in the form of a QR code that invites readers to interact with the book.
