Abstract

The need for electricity in Indonesia in 2060 is projected to require 1,855 Terawatt Hours (TWh). However, the high demand for electrical energy is not matched by high fulfillment. This is also due to inadequate electricity distribution and low oil reserves. So one solution to this condition is to utilize natural gas, especially LNG, but it can also support the government's program, namely Net Zero Emissions (NZE). However, distributing LNG efficiently is difficult because the LNG source areas are difficult to access and there is no integrated piping system. The aim of this research is to design a mini LNG vessel with a capacity of 14,000 Cbm which is capable of distributing LNG in the Eastern Indonesia Region, considering that the construction of a gas pipeline installation is not possible due to geographical conditions, area size and high economic investment. A parametric design approach with the linear regression method is used to determine the main dimensions of the ship. Maxsurf software was used to verify ship resistance and intact stability. The design of the type C-independent LNG tank uses a two-dimensional principle based on IGC and thickness with pressure vessel standards. This conceptual design study consists of lines plan, general arrangement, 3D mini LNG carrier, resistance analysis, intact stability analysis, sea keeping, design of type C-independent LNG tank, P&ID offloading system for mini LNG ship and investment value of the ship. The results showed that the principal dimension of the ship is optimal and the results of the analysis of ship resistance using a comparison of numerical calculations and Maxsurf software. Intact stability analysis complies with 6 standard criteria of IMO A.749 in 3 scenarios, namely full load, ballast arrival, and empty cargo. Sea keeping analysis shows that this ship can sail up to Sea State 4 where sea state 4 is the eastern part of Indonesia. The results of the design of the type C-independent LNG tank containment system using austenitic stainless steel material SS304/SS304L with an internal design pressure and Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAWP) of 6 bar. To determine the value of this ship investment is to describe the price of each machinery used, equipment, tools, electrical installations, labor costs, engineering costs, third party costs, launching sea trials and delivery and training and familiarization and then adding up the value of the investment This Mini LNG Carrier ship is IDR 494,638,392,271
