Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai pembuatan adsorben jerami padi yang diaktivasi dengan NaCl 1 M untuk pengurangan kromium (VI) dalam larutan aqueous. Jerami padi dicuci, dikeringkan dan dijadikan serbuk sebelum digunakan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan adsorben. Jerami padi dipanaskan pada suhu 450˚C selama 120 menit untuk memperoleh adsorben jerami padi, selanjutnya dicampurkan dengan aktivator NaCl 1 M dan dilakukan pengadukan selama 240 menit. Adsorben yang diperoleh dilakukan uji Spektra FT-IR menunjukkan adanya gugus hidroksi, karboksilat, aromatik, dan eter pada permukaan jerami padi dan adsorben yang dibuat. Pengurangan ion kromium (VI) dalam larutan aqueous dilakukan melalui adsorpsi metode batch, percobaan adsorpsi dilakukan dengan variasi pH larutan kromium (VI) sebesar 1, 2, 3, 4 dan 5 dan variasi waktu kontak selama 5-360 menit. Kadar kromium diuji dengan menggunakan Spektroskopi Serapan Atom (SSA) persen pengurangan kromium (VI) tertinggi terjadi pada pH 2 dan waktu kontak 300 menit sebesar 63,80%

Research has been carried out on the manufacture of rice straw adsorbent activated with 1 M NaCl for the reduction of chromium (VI) in aqueous solutions. Rice straw is washed, dried and powdered before being used as a raw material for making adsorbents. Rice straw was heated at 450˚C for 120 minutes to obtain rice straw adsorbent, then mixed with 1 M NaCl activator and stirred for 240 minutes. The adsorbent obtained by FT-IR spectra test showed the presence of hydroxy, carboxylic, aromatic, and ether groups on the surface of rice straw and the adsorbent made. Reduction of chromium (VI) ions in aqueous solutions was carried out through batch adsorption methods, adsorption experiments were carried out with variations in the pH of chromium (VI) solutions of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 and variations in contact time for 5-360 minutes. The chromium content was tested using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) the highest percent reduction of chromium (VI) occurred at pH 2 and 300 minutes contact time of 63.80%
