Abstract

Polymer absorbents chitosan-glutaraldehyde-amylum have been successfully synthesized using blending on room temperature and atmospheric pressure. Polymer absorbent first synthesized by dissolving chitosan in acetic acid and mixed with amylum. Then, glutaraldehyde is mixed into the mixture after it is homogenized and then printed on open space. Polymer obtained then characterized using FTIR and SEM. FTIR result shows a peak on 1650 cm-1 and observation using SEM shows a smooth surface morphology of chitosan-glutaraldehyde-amylum polymer.
