Abstract

Dalam sektor transportasi laut menyubang lebih dari dua pertiga total volume perdagangan internasional. Kapal menggunakan mesin diesel yang membakar bahan bakar minyak dengan kandungan belerang sehingga memunculkan efek samping berupa sulfur dioksida.Berdasarkan MARPOL 73/78 membatasi kandungan SOx yang dilepaskan ke atmosfer sebesar 6 g/kWh. Sehingga pada penelitian ini menurunkan SOx dengan cara menambahkan scrubber pada kapal khususnya pada genset. Pada desain scrubber ini menggunakan atau menambahkan air laut. Scrubber yang digunakan untuk pengurangan kandungan SO2 adalah wet scrubber. Analisa dilakukan pada jenis wet scrubber kolom packing dengan 3 tipe packing yang berbeda. Dari berbagai desain yang dibuat dipilih tipe jenis packing pall ring 25 dengan kemampuan performa penurunan kandungan SO2 hingga 3,34 gr/kWh dengan pressure drop sebesar 0,0155 bar dengan parameter dari engine maker bahwa pressure drop tidak boleh lebih dari 0,045 bar. Pada tipe ini memiliki laju aliran minimum air sebesar 87,53 liter/jam. Hubungan antara laju alir air yang masuk dengan pressure drop dari penelitian didapatkan bahwa semakin tinggi laju alir air maka pressure drop semakin tinggi. Maka hubungan antara laju aliran air dan pressure drop adalah berbanding lurus. Kadar penghilangan SO2 dipengaruhi oleh laju aliran air. Semakin tinggi laju alir air maka kadar SO2 yang dihilangkan juga semakin tinggi

Marine transportation contributes more than 2/3 of international trades. Ship uses diesel engine that burns fuel oil containing sulphure which produces Sulphure Dioxide. MARPOL 73/73 conducted that maximum amounts of SOx release is 6g/kWh. this research focuses on reducing SOx by adding scrubber unit on ship especially at generators. Scrubber unit designed uses sea water. Scrubber used to reduces SO2 is wet scrubber. There are 3 types of different packing column that analysed. From different types of packing analysed, chosen packing pall ring 25 capability to reduces SO2 up to 3,34gr/kWh with pressure drop up to 0,0155 bar, which refers to engine maker that pressure drop cannot exceed 0,045 bar. This type has minimum water flow of 87,35 liter/h. from this research can be concluded that water flow and pressure drop is linear, the bigger the water flow then the pressure drop occurs will also increase. Wet scrubber efficiency to reduce SO2 also affected by water flow, the bigger water flow, then SO2 contaminants reduces will also increase
